Mayweather vs Pacquiao happens and the fight is a borefest? Not only that, but the when the PPV numbers come out...it does about 900k buys only? I dont know about anywhere else but here in Chicago NOBODY watches boxing and some people (that ive talked to) think the fight has already happened. Any thoughts?
I always thought that if the fight happens it turns out to be a huge disappointment. Floyd boxes and stays at range winning a boring 12 rounds. And when I say "disappointment" and "boring", I'm referring to general consensus.
Move along to the Whine And Cheese isle... But yes it would most likely be a bore and I think most people are done with the idea so the ppv #'s would be lower than expected. They'd drop a billion in promo and lose.
There's not much of a chance that it does anything less than 2 million buys if it happens any time soon, though there is definitely a blueprint for Mayweather to pot shot Manny with his right and win fairly comfortably. However, I'm virtually all in with post #2.
The overwhelming odds should favor a comfortable "safe" Floyd decision. Logic prevails 9 times out of 10 in boxing. Styles make fights, and Manny is just too predictable for Floyd not to outsmart him.
In 2007 Mayweather-DLH was HUGE and the actual fight was so-so. Not boring like Mayweather-Baldomir or Klitschko-Povetkin, but it wasn't a good fight. Biggest fight I've lived, though.
It would be funny if Mayweather was completley shut out by Manny putting on a clinic, pot shotting his way to a boring UD!! I just hope its not a draw, this and every other boxing forum would go into meltdown!!
Of course it will be boring if they ever fight (which I doubt) Does anybody really think that Floyd is going to come out and go all Hagler-Hearns on us? He will run and potshot off his back foot all night and pretty much try to run out the clock from the 1st round on. I just don't see this fight doing the business it would have done a few years ago, people are starting to see thru Floyd. I certainly won't be throwing away any more money on his fights
Trust me, it will do around 2.5-3 million buys if this fight happens. But if it turnsout a snoozefest and a competitive decision that leads to a rematch, just expect low numbers on its 2nd fight.
