This was an evenly matched fight. Not some GG mismatch where you know that the 33-34 year old will win. We need drama, not some scared ref who cracks under the first sign of pressure.

    It was a good stoppage.

Lol ref should've let Quillin continue like the crybabies wanted so we could have had a real laugh.

This was a TERRIBLE stoppage, as many are today. Modern refs are way too quick to stop fights.

They should do what they did back in the old days - let fights go to their natural conclusion. In general, a fight should not be stopped until an actual knockout occurs.

Before I read the rest of the posts...

Ref saw at least part of the chicken dance.

Ref tried to get Quillens attention, but his eyes were not right (see the second camera angle they showed looking right at his face). Quillen never really focused in on the ref or anything else.

IMO- Good, if not great, stoppage. The man was already badly hurt.

After the fight quillin seemed very nonchalant about the whole afair. Maybe he never really wanted it that bad to begin with...hmmm makes you think

I see your point. It was not a typical stoppage especially since it didn't even go 1 full round. But the eyes are what refs look at to see if a fighter is in any condition to continue. And Pete definitely looked like he was gone. Had the ref given a standing 8 I don't think anyone would have been calling for his termination but I wasn't opposed to how he handled the situation. I think Quillin was a lot more hurt than he was from the first shot that had him on unsteady legs that lead to the shot that ended the fight and Pete just couldn't get his bearings. But you're right....these guys put a lot into training camp and you want to give them all the opportunity in the world to continue, just so long as it doesn't put their lives and careers in jeopardy anymore than they already do by being in this sport.

One more punch and he could have been killed considering he had no defense and looked like he was having a seizure.

    Ref saved Quillin's career.
