At last there is boxing on the front page of ESPN dot com. No basketball, hockey, football, golf or some horse riding but BOXING! Anyone visiting espn will get to see Oscars rich ass smiling at them. :bbb
I never understood why espn and these major sports outlets never focused more on boxing. They treat it like wrestling more than anything. I mean there are no updates or results of boxing on espn ever. They do play some old fights here and there at like 2 in the morning but I mean it is a major sport. I dont get it. THey need to create a boxing channel just like there is a golf channel.
If it was any other fight, the NBA playoffs would be on the main page.. They wouldnt put anyone else on the front page but oscar..
Yeah I always take note of stuff like this too. I was impressed to see it spotlighted on ESPN. It's sad in a way because Oscar can't go on much longer. And the way the sports media covers boxing is star power over relevance. I remember during Pavlik-Taylor two, boxing was given a footnote on ESPN's main page while the spotlight went to that dude who won the slam dunk contest in a superman cape or some bull****. Meanwhile Oscar takes a **** and we're mainstream again.
I hear you, but I believe HBO doesnt even let them put good highlights on and its usually still footage. S io that hbo fault
Yea.. looks like they changed it. Just goes to show you how much popularity boxing has. One of the most popular fighters of this generation is fighting and they have some ****ing horse **** on the main page. Boxing gets PWNED by horse riding. Sad.. Very sad.
Boxing is nothing more than a damn mere footnote anymore, young guys rather watch the gay UFC or some other sport, I blame the heavyweight division the most, what used to be the best division less than 10 years ago, is now the worst many of us has ever seen. With crude punchers like Peter and scared fighters like Wlad leading the division, it's no wonder why the average guy could give two shits less about boxing. Hype + talent = The average fans attention again, look no further than Mayweather/Oscar or Tyson/Lewis, people just dont want to see a fight, they want to wittness an event, there needs to be sub-plots to catch peoples eyes.
A boxing channel would kick some serious ass. I doubt there is a large enough market for it. Maybe if they did a boxing/MMA channel it would work though
I have a thought once in a while that Don King or someone else big in boxing starts a cable boxing channel.
I would hope that it would be a BOXING CHANNEL and not mixed with that UFC crap. That stuff is the equivalent of midget wrestling.
