That girl was fiery. I think her standing up getting pissed was the BEST part of the night! That bubble was ri-donk-ulous!
I guess you didn't saw the Juarez fights right? In thier first fight Barrera got beaten up by him still won a very close fight but was all bust up, so in his rematch he fought a much better smarter fight by out boxing him and won a wide UD without getting busted up right? Or did he just fought to ''Survive''??? IMO Barrera tried to do the same in his rematch with Pac by trying to out box him but couldn't do it against the faster and more powerful fighter. Same could be said for his fights with Jr Jones.
Clearly, most of the blame for this being such a boring fight is Mosley, he refused to engage and tried not to get knocked out instead of win. He took almost no chances and was in survival mode for most of the fight. But, Pacquaio isn't totally innocent either. Pac seemed content to let Mosley survive, he was applying some pressure and was the only one making any effort but Pac could have stepped on the gas more as well. Look what happened after Mosley was credited for a knockdown he didn't get, Pac got angry and went after Mosley. Why didn't he do that more? Pac is usually the most exciting fighter in boxing but sometimes he's a bit too much of a gentlemen to be exciting all the time. He's almost too nice and ok with letting guys survive if they aren't fighting back much. When guys try to fight Pac he is a fighter and will fight back hard like Morales, JMM, and Cotto but if you don't put up much of a fight Pac will let you off the hook some like Mosley, Clottey, and Barerra 2. Bottom line this was a bad fight when it was made and thats what we got, no surprise really.
Mosley is 40 years old and couldn't do nothing. He goes into the mode of just losing fights now -- as long as he survives, it doesn't matter. Like what happened with his fight with Mayweather. He kept grabbing Mayweather as may walked him down and put leather on him. He would've probably got the KO on Shane. As soon as this fight with Pac was made I knew Mosley was going to get his ass whooped. I thought he was going to get KO'd mid fight, not because Pac is so much better than Mayweather, but STYLES MAKES FIGHTS and his style with the assets he has would've been too much for this type of Mosley who can't put his punches together, loads up, and doesn't really throw punches if you are on the attack against him. A great scap wouldve been if Shane was prime against Pac. But not this version of Shane.
It was a mismatch in the first place. Still, Shane didn't try to win this one (just as CLottey didn't). He only came to survive and his aim was to go the distance against the currently greatest fighter in the game. IMO that's cheating the fans. Shane is certainly no coward (he has more courage and heart than 99% of us), but he didn't show up to fight - he turned it into a sparring session.
If you don't honestly believe you can win a fight, you shouldn't take it. I liked Shane a lot some years ago, and I still respect him, but he cheated the fans. But at least I saw through the hype and didn't buy this fight.
I like to bash on Shane as much as anyone, but the Pac camp was the one who cheated the fans by making this fight in the first place. They all knew throught Mosley's recent lame performances and advanced age that he wouldn't present much of a problem. Just another easy payday for the current cash cow in boxing... what they didn't anticipate was the no-show performance by Shane. So their fraudulent fight backfired on them a bit by slightly tarnishing Pac's image to the casual boxing fan. Serves them right.
That's what happens when you fight guys who are coming off of loses or in the transition of rebuilding their careers after being defeated.
Same here. These guys think that this is some sort of video game. Shane Mosley ain't that reckless and stupid. A good amount of boxing is about risk vs reward. Shane realized he was in a NO win situation if he engaged with PAC. Pac could SERIOUSLY hurt him with either hand; he couldn't. PAC was faster. Shane's declining reflexes and speed left him vulnerable in exchanges and to counters;thus preventing him from mounting a sufficient offensive attack. With the exception of Margarito, the vast majority of fighters in Shane's position would have either done exactly the same thing or they would have been KOD. Also, this isn't like basketball where the most devastating thing that can happen to you is getting dunked on. This is boxing, where you can actually be killed or suffer serious life altering injuries if you are not careful.
