The first bout was for the title...I'm pretty sure Castillo had an option for a rematch. And the fact it was a close bout...what boxer wouldn't like to show they can beat a previous opponent clearly?
Did compubox say Castillo landed more power shots? Very unreliable. Castillo did hit him more than any other opponent...but I'm pretty sure he didn't land as much as compubox had him land. And...atsch
Seriously, I don't get where all these people come around saying Floyd whooped Castillo's ass in the rematch when he won 7 rounds to 5.
I am about to re-watch the fight right now. First thing that was said is that Castillo comes in 9 pounds heavier for this fight.
The fight is a loss in my book in no way did Floyd have any control of the fight, especially when he was switching to south paw and orthodox basicly trying to survive... Floyd won some rounds but he did not win the fight everybody knows that except those who tend to score fights based on skin color
He made weight, he may have walked in heavier but as long as he made weight there is no excuse, and even should he have come in 9 pounds over the limit, if the fight still took place there is no excuse becuase Floyd would have agreed to it the way Corrales did in his rematch with Castillo...
So a close fight that could have gone either way is scored based on skin color? I'm not like you who say JLC won clearly and it was a robbery that's some bull**** with no objectivity. I've said from the jump it was a close fight that could have gone either way and warranted a rematch. I can see how someone can make a case for PBF wining as well as a case for JLC wining. You're the close minded one here.
The reason they go back to this fight is because it's last time Floyd a top-level guy who was from his same weight class and in his prime. You're right, it was EIGHT YEARS AGO, but it's not our fault that's the last time Floyd took on a real challenge. That's what discredits his "greatness". Not really whether he won it or not, but that he hasn't faced the best opposition of his own era, just guys with names that were either smaller or past their prime. He'll never be an undisputed ATG because you can't be All-time anything if you refused to face the best of your own era.
