I'm telling it how it is. I know he's an ESB member, and he's a good guy.

But it's better if he hangs them up than turns in performances like that.

Yeah, but when you need a puncher's chance against an unheralded opponent whose biggest fight to that date is a near shutout loss to Herbie Hide...

I'm not saying Ding-A-Ling Man should retire, but that's a seriously disappointing performance for him.

Well it's true it was not his best performance, but I wouldn't call for retirement based on that. If he comes into a fight in %100 physical and mental shape, he can be very dangerous for anyone. Anyone who can bang like he can must always be taken very seriously. Also he remains dangerous throughout an entire 10 or 12 rounds and arguably gets better as the fight progresses, and that was only a 5 rounder. I say he still has some eye-popping performances left in him so long as he wants it badly enough.

i dont think the 5 round fights help him at all really, hes always a slower type starter and against a moving fighter he prob wouldnt catch up to someone like that till round 8-9 then the tide turns where his power becomes a massive factor as other fighters loose there legs...
bad result for him but hell be back, now hopefully tuasa is the next fight, good fighter hopefully fills his potential in there...

Let's be fair, Ding's WBA shot and BJ Flores fight was at least partly a result of his growing fanbase, particularly from this site. which means that if an ESB member has a criticism or view, as Apathetic has, he should not be discouraged from airing it.

I was afraid this would happen. I knew the five round fights wouldn't favor him for the reasons posted above. I also figured that being in a house with the other fighters who keep talking about his POWER all the time would be an issue. That added to his own desire to KO everyone and he entered the ring against a boxer with only one plan. Knock out the guy in the first round. He even wrote it on the wall.

Ding continues to try to hard to impress everyone with the big KO and sells himself short by not setting things up. Its too bad, but I don't think retiring is needed here.

I hope we get to see him on TV again in a longer fight, matched him with a banger and you have a fight of the night on any card.

    Good luck Ding.

I was disapointed in the fight, at least the highlights. He apparently had a hard time making weight, and just like his last 3 or 4 fights looked like he forgot how to box and just chased the guy around throwing huge wide shots.

I still think he can be a champ if he were to just seriosuly train and maybe get a trainer that gets him back to teh basics.
