why does it bother you? how does this disturb your life? it shouldn't I heard bumdog fans telling us that 300k for canelo/smith was a failure.....when im certain that canelo doesn't have a pac guarantee and smith prob made less than vargas.... I guess when you point out flaws in the bumdog or flaws in his fans theories people like you get all uspet and defensive? what I do shouldn't bother you that much to make a pointless reply
Both the Pac and the Kovalev-Ward PPV are also going to take their lumps from surrounding UFC 205, too. We don't have the official numbers released yet, but it's broken their record of 1.65 mil.
No as I've said many times I like to come to this board to see interesting content about boxing as a whole. Yet every thread I have to wade through your GGG drivel, even if the thread is about completely different fighters. I shouldn't speak for others, but I suspect NO ONE on this site likes or even cares about GGG even 1/10th of the amount you hate him. I certainly don't, and I don't need to be reminded of how you feel on every thread every damn hour of every day. You are an impediment to the enjoyment of this site, like a speedbump in the way of my 911 when I'm trying to roll. Just talk about something else.....PLEASE........or if you can't just stay in the GGG threads and leave it there....PLEASE. Over and out.
Here is the issue neither Canelo-Smith, Kovalev-Ward, or Pacquiao-Vargas were PPV worthy fights. UFC 205 was PPV worthy. Not really an apples to apples comparison. When you put a non PPV worthy fight on PPV of course it is going to tank. This is just Boxing shooting itself in the foot as usual. All of those fights should have been on regular HBO or Showtime.
The thing is Canelo (and Floyd) have ALWAYS relied on Mexican holidays. Canelo-Smith did less than 300K and Floyd-Berto did less than 400K on a Mexican holiday and the fight being HEAVILY HYPED as Floyd's last fight. Even during the third Bradley fight, Pac never said that it was his last fight. This shows that Pacquiao is and always has been the PPV King.
I don't care about failed ppvs as long as I see the fights. But if Pac Vargas sold 300k that helps boxing, tells us that Pac can still bring a crowd, and that Pac still has fans. Mathematically 300-350k is not a failed ppv.
If you ever wanted to know why you get shitted on daily by posters and why I **** all over you and big nose Khan...the above reason is why alt.
You're right- it's not an apples to apples comparison, but that's not going to stop boxing from trying to sell that fertilizer at the apple stand anyways. Unfortunately, I don't see a way out of this as long as the networks and promoters get just enough buys for PPV to keep subsidizing the shrinking annual budgets at the expense of fans.
