Sparring means very little, and Khan having a dodgy chin is hardly news for those who've paid attention to his career.

 

I really..really!!! hope that Maidana puts sustained pressure on Khan for a good while, I want to see how he deals with constantly have to move and evade shots and land his own. In some ways i hope he comes in throwing with reckless abandon and goes for it from the off and engages Khan's nervous energy and machismo that will come back to haunt him don't you worry about that it will somewhere down the line.

The number of sparring stories on here is endless...i'm sure that on the classic there was a "mystery lightweight drops Chuvalo in training" story doing the rounds. Its not that sparring doesn't matter or isn't an indication its just that the vast majority of the stories are complete bollocks.

 

Khan wouldn't be the first boxer to have improved punch resistance from going up in weight, Cotto being one example. We know he's never gonna be able to take a shot like Margarito but whatever helps.

What amazes me though is that people like Colin Hart have been saying it even BEFORE the Prescott fight! They gotta be some damn good analysts and have a great eye for detail to know this.
