    WOW!

2008 is already a great one, Vazquez-Marquez III, Marquez-Pacquiao II, and even Pavlik-Taylor was good and now Casamayor-Katsidis which was a WAR! What a great fight, what a great year!

Will this year be even better than the TRULY GREAT 2007?

    Also Mac - Haye.

    We also got

    Glen Johnson - Chad Dawson
    Clinton Woods - Antonio Tarver
    Joe Calzaghe - Bernard Hopkins

in the light-heavyweight division in the next few weeks, followed by

    Mikkel Kessler - Edison Miranda
    Kermit Cintron - Antonio Margarito
    O'Neil Bell - Tomasz Adamek
    Joan Guzman - Alex Arthur
    Shane Mosley - Zab Judah

All on the horizon before June!!!

Looking later into the year we can look forward to Ricky Hatton's comeback, which hopefully will mean fighting Junior Witter sooner rather than later. We also have a mooted fight between Miguel Cotto and Ricardo Mayorga, which would be a potential fight of the year coz Mayorga still is a beast at 147lbs. Oscar De La Hoya having his testimonial year, although I'm not interested in Mayweather - De La Hoya II. Then we get the return of James Toney, in the battle of the bulge(ing waistline) against Danny Williams. I want to see hoe much Toney has left, and I'd like to see him fight David Haye too. And lest we forget we also have reasonably exciting Heavyweight prospects on the horizon, with David Haye, Alex Povetkin and Odliander Solis stepping up to challenge big Wlad.

Down the line I'd like to see Vernon Forrest fight Oscar De La Hoya at light-middleweight. Forrest deserves a big payday. I'd like to see Darnell Wilson beat Firat Aslan and get his shot with Enzo Mac. I'd like to see Jermain Taylor and Jeff Lacy, because at this point it looks like the only fight they can both take, and I'd like to see Joe Calzaghe fight Clinton Woods, presuming they both win, coz Woods is the overlooked man in British boxing and deserves his 15 minutes of fame.

Then we get onto the 130-135lbs weigh divisions. We have Gamboa, Khan, Diaz, Katsidis, Casamayor, Pacman, Guzman, and possibly Gavin Rees if he moves down, all in the same division. That looks like the best division in boxing at the moment.

I think the next great fight will be Cotto-Gomez... Yes, could turn out to be very one-sided, but a great brawl as long as it lasts... and if Gomez can throw 100 punches per round, he could do a lot more than most people think...

Even the Kotelnik-Rees and Andrade-Stieglitz fights were good, I expected less spectacular fights...

What REALLY could make boxing HUGE again is fighters fighting at least 3 times a year and great undercards...

I hate when big PPV shows are on and you get a B-level fight or an elite vs. C level on the undercard...
    Less PPV, more packed undercards!

2008 is indeed looking pretty good, but in terms of PPV #s 2007 is surely going to win out unless there are some big fights made for late '08

    Haye-Mormeck, Peter-Toney, Wlad-Brewster, Mayweather-De la Hoya, Mayweather-Hatton, Pacquiao-Barrera, Cotto-Mosley, Calzaghe-Kessler, Vasquez-Marquez, etc.

Maybe 2008 will have more entertainning fights, but 2007's fights were bigger and greater. I prefer the second.
