Had him completely outboxing Brazeale, but tried to force the action too much in the third round and got sloppy. Izu looked gassed in the forth round. Good win for Breazeale though.
Smh I knew he wasn't as good as people said but I didn't think Breazeale in this shape could do this to him.
Disappointed in Izu. Seeing him train in the flesh, I genuinely believed he had the tools to make a mark for himself. Hopefully this is just a tough starting point...He looked too open, too willing to trade and I guess just a bit overwhelmed on the big stage. Izu had all the ability to beat Breazale. Credit where due, DB fought back and proved his worth to get the finish in a tough fight for him!
He can come again.... Needs to work on his defense and pacing, offensively he can go places in the division provided he patches up the holes in his game.
Realistically a guy Izu size won't make the grade in this division. Usyk would meet the same fate against tubby tits Brezeale.
Although he got dropped in the 2nd, he should have kept boxing smart and going to the body. DB would have been ripe for the picking by 6-7. Tough learning experience for Izu. DB needs to get in better shape or become the new age Butterbean. King of the 4 rounders. Good action fight.
I've been telling people Izu is a bad prospect with zero accomplishments. People see one bum KOing other bums and they can't figure out things won't play out the same against a better opponent. Still, it's funny though that Breazeale apparently took that Simpson's boxing episode as instructional.
He actually managed to take some good shots ok. I think the problem was he was not boxing smart at all, and was too willing to trade with Breazeale to try and get a quicker KO than Joshua. He clearly needs to pace himself more and I'm sure his corner was telling him all the right things, I'm sure next time he will listen to them. I still see Izu doing better in the future than Breazeale. As long as he has the ability to learn, and his confidence has not been shot to pieces like I see happen to so many good boxers.
Yes, I agree. He's the better boxer, with better speed and skills. Izu needed to box from the outside more, land mostly to the body like he did in rounds 1-2, and then take tired opponent in the late rounds.
