The discovery phase of this lawsuit could turn out to be...... interesting. ME does not need to "win" to get their comeuppance. They just need a strong enough case to not get dismissed with predjudice, so they can subpeona the crap out of GYM and Haymon and GBP and air their dirty laundry.

Looks like Main Events actually had a deal for the fight.

Espinoza, Haymon, GYM & Scheafer must be sweating over this ****, I hope HBO back Main Events.

they have no case at all, yvon michel has already stated that in the last email he sent to main events that he was still yet to get stevenson to agree, so there was no fight ever signed.

all this bul**** with haymon, schaefer, oscar and golden boy will be laughed upon. it has nothing to do with stevenson vs kovalev not being made, main events will just be making fools of themselves.

feel sorry for some main event fighters, likes of curtis stevens whos been dying a for a fight at quillin which will never happen now.

Main events is sueing so they can at least show Showtime/Al Haymon that they won't go down without a fight.
What's curious is that way back in Dec 1993 following the Stevenson-Bellow fight Stvenson is a post fight interview stated with certainty that he would face Hopkins for unifying the belts rather than face Kovalev. This osunds like although the promoters had a verbal agreement for Stevenson-Kovalev, they had no fighter signatures on a contract.

Forget the lawsuit...they are trying to do Oscar dirty. I love Alan Haymon, very shrewd.

I get why De La Hoya needs Schaefer and Haymon. Not sure why they need him though. Isn't he just a figurehead? Why shouldn't they overthrow him?

He is the only one with an actual promotional license. And they might not need him now, but they did when they started - and he just happens to own the majority of the corporate entity they built their empire around.

Not to mention the Golden Boy brand is trademarked by ODLH himself. With the fighters having loyalty to Schaefer, it only lends to a messy breakup if it happens.

If Schaefer leaves/gets fired, I think about half of the fighters will sign with Schaefer over time. He'll probably start a promotional company with Haymon, which will lead to a civil war on Showtime, unless Oscar decides to work with HBO agian.

Schafer and Haymon seem to be conspiring against Oscar according to this

Espinoza will back Schaefer and Mayweather in the event of any breakup.
