Mosely must be very keen to fight Pac, if he is willing to
go down to 140, he must really fancy himself

If Mosely drops the weight correctly, he might be quicker
than ever - and that would be a worry for Pac.

Theres a lot of unknowns about Mosely at 140 - and they
mightnt all be totally negative, so Im guessing that Pacs
weighing up the thought of Mosely at 140 or Cotto at 145.

Cottos doing the right thing standing firm, kudos to him.

I dont think Pac will fight Mosely even at 140, I dont think
he wants a bar of Shane - and I dont blame him.

For the record there is no belt for this fight. To put the belt on the line it has to be at 147.

Exactly. As long as you're above 140 and at or below 147 then the belt would definitely be on the line.

Correct. The max is 147 not 145. You can weigh 141-147. Not 141-145. A welterweight champ should never fall for crap like this to cater to a challenger. Fight in the weight class or get out of it. Wackiao fought Oscar at 147, why not Cotto. Oscar is actually bigger than Cotto. This is all a gimmick to make a man weaker to gain an advantage. Manny was actually bigger than Hatton. Doesn't it seem kind of funny that he used to fight at Flyweight. :huh If the fight was at 147 limit it would do even more for Mannys legacy. He can beat Cotto, but making him drop pounds...He won't get full credit. Grow a pair Pac and believe in yourself. Your fans sure do.

Negotiations 101! PAC did the same thing with Ricky. He couldn't do this with DLH b/c DLH was calling the shots but now PAC enjoys some leverage for being the man in the profession we call boxing. I'm excited for this one. At 145 this fight is fair and I see Cotto getting TKO'd. Not like Ricky but by an onslaught of offesnse towards the mid to late rounds by Manny.

I'll repost my stand on this issue . . . both for Cotto or Mosley fight

    (no catch weight)
if . . . at 147 for the WELTER title
if . . . at 140 for the JUNIOR WELTER title

    at a catch weight

NO BELT AT STAKE . . . just fight! :deal

. . . but I'm not disturbed by all these craps . . . this is what we call negotiations.

Only reason I'll be sad is because he will retire and run like a chicken after avoiding my boy for years and years and years. It will sadden me that I wil not get to witness him being pummeled and pummeled from ring post to ring post...:good

maybe if you paid more attention youd realize that this isnt the first time this has been done. not even close. that aside, i think manny should fight cotto at 147 just to leave no doubts in the minds of his haters and doubters. dont cheapen your amazing run on account of 2-4 lbs.

I agree . . . you have a valid point but this is not the first time this will happen.

Check the Leonard/Le Londe fight where the light heavy weight title holder was forced to weight in below 170 and still the title was at stake.

    There is a precedent.

I don't think it is fair to ask for a title fight at a catch weight.

If Pac is aiming for a better legacy he should fight Cotto or Moseley for their WW belts at 147 or a catchweight where nobody would be too much at disadvantage. 140-143 maybe too much for Cotto and Mosley to handle.

You're right, it's all part of the negotiation. I had some suspicion before that Pac was just using the weight issue as leverage for better pay.
