well if "rich marotta" says it's true it must be then. idiot! hamed pretty much retired after the barrera fight in april 2001, and marquez didn't win his first world title until 2 years later. so even if marquez was calling hamed out, he didn't bring much to the table with respect to risk/reward earlier on.
MAB-Morales-Hamed didn't really *duck* him. JMM was well known to hardcore fans at the time, and was thought to be pretty much on the same level as the big 3 by people who REALLY followed boxing, but he was basically unknown except for guys like us. Had he kept winning and had some spectacular fights, then he would have had enough name recognition to pretty much force them to fight him. Nacho's demands were excessive. JMM's boring loss to Norwood, and the fact that Gainer ruined his next high profile fight by pretty much running out of the ring against him all worked together to make it unnecessary to fight him. So they didn't. JMM then was kinda like Soto now, except Soto maybe isn't quite as good and doesn't have someone like Nacho ****ing things up. And he probably wasn't quite as well known then as Soto is now, either. Just a shitty situation, but I don't think you could say anyone was running from him, except Derrick Gainer. There just wasn't much of a popular outcry to see him, and why would they fight someone like JMM if they're not going to get top dollar for it?
I've schooled a few uneducated on this forum on the subject.......I'm not going to go beyond making it plain and simple this time...... ...before there was an Hamed-MAB fight, JMM had long been Hamed's #1 mandatory defense fighter...... Hamed twice petitioned the alphabet groups for the right to bypass his #1 mandatory defense.....JMM of course. ......at one point in time, HBO which was on Hamed's nuts, announced that Hamed had offered JMM the fight, but that Marquez had turned it down......the only thing that HBO left out was that Hamed not only offered Marquez peanuts to fight, but also was only giving Marquez about a three week notice to climb into the ring. They insult Marquez financially and then only want to give Marquez three weeks preparation time!nut:nut Let me tell you all something most of you should have figured out by now.......if you heard it at HBO, take it with a grain of salt!:deal
Yo yo yo to those *******s that got offended when I brought up atg torrecampo and got pissy wow wow wow show some respect p4p atg torrecampo crushed ur demi-god pacquiao in 1 blow.true story.lmao *******s fear me for I have found a cure for ur virus! That was ****ing great...I've always thought JMM was the best of his generation at the lighter weights. Prime JMM TKO10 Prime Pacquiao, Barrera, Morales, Hamed
Its been so long I dont even remember, but I know that twice JMM came up as Hamed's mandatory and Hamed refused to fight him both times. I'm pretty sure it was some time before JMM's first title attempt vs Freddie Norwood.......you go back to then and Hamed was fighting the likes of Wilfredo Vasquez who was completely shot, Wayne McCullough who could'nt crack and egg, Paul Ingle, Cesar Soto, and Augie Sanchez.......some decent, but most limited fighters...... The complete package at the time was a young Juan Manuel Marquez and Hamed knew that. It turns out that Marquez got a chance at Norwood's title and got robbed...... Norwood is one of those defensive specialist type that even in victory, you're just not going to look like a world beater against him...... Call it what you may, but the people in higher places in boxing sometimes do things to get a particular fighter out of the way so that they can promote and hype up a character that can hype the sport up with just the way he conducts himself in an egomaniacal way.....that fighter at the time was Naseem Hamed......and so they gave JMM the shaft against Norwood! Unfortunately boxing is one of those sports that if you dare conduct yourself with dignity, you're likely to get the shaft!
yeah... I would just like to know for certain so that we can rule out the possibility that Hamed passed him up for BIG money fights. If he didn't, then you can safely say that Hamed avoided him.
well he's definitely in the mix as a peer, but I dunno that I would say he's a lock against any of those guys except maybe Hamed. Naseem's style was perfect for JMM. Nobody at FW is a lock against MAB, Morales and Pac. All four of them are absolute beasts at that weight.
What? Naseem Hamed clearly did not want to fight Marquez by intentionally avoiding him and openly admitted that. Emmanuel Steward who was his trainer admits that aswell. Get the facts straight before you post rook. atschatsch
That's what your brain got from that, eh?.... NAH, you're just a whiny nationalist ****. Yet another.. What I gave was something VERIFIABLE, **** eater. You think he was giving his opinion?? :rofl What do you suppose he was actually saying? ACTUALLY now? ****ing sophmore. It's ok... Just admit you weren't following boxing that many years ago, and sit down and shut the **** up.
you've got a big mouth sitting behind your keyboard. it's a real shame you can't call me a **** to my face, well shame for me and lucky for you.
