Sorry folks NO ROBBERY:nono Pavlik won either 115-113 or 116-112:yep Volume, agression, and consistency won out over Jermain's FLASHES. I give credit to BOTH GUY's. I feel for Jermain because he fought MUCH BETTER and didnt allow himself to get cornered but there wasnt ENOUGH to win. Pavlik went a hard 12 for the first time and its one to build on. He needs to step up the bodywork earlier, dont always rely on the head shots. I think Pavlik felt taylor would go early and focused on the head a bit too much. Had he banked some early bodywork? He likely stops Taylor late. Even Taylor credited the body shot in the 10th that hurt him and had him fading. Hold you're head up Jermain Taylor, no shame in losing to Pavlik:nono Taylor took a step in the right direction and seems at peace with his corner. The only thing still missing is CONSITENCY.
Come on man, you can't tell me that there aren't just as many demented Pavlik fans with ridiculous scores in favor of their boy..I havent seen the fight but by judging what everyone is saying it was close , and Im seeing some crazy numbers coming from both ends of the spectrum..Too many bias people on both sides
Or maybe it's just that only delusional persons like yourself believe there was an HBO conspiracy. Because clearly if there was a conspiracy, then Taylor would have been given the decision tonight. Oh well, maybe you can shift your attention to the moon landing or the Kennedy assasination now that the HBO conspiracy has been debunked.
:rofl @ thread title. **** you guys! :fire For the record I thought Pavlik got it, but BARELY. He gave JT way too much respect through the middle rounds where JT was obviously trying to catch a second wind.
I would love to see how you scored the first 2 Hopkins-Taylor fights, even though you have pulled an Opie every time I have asked you to give a round by round. :rofl :rofl
Debating his wins with honestly the biggest Hopkins fan on here is easy.... But tonight was different as I could easily make a case for either one. The people screaming robbery and blowout are saying so from the heart and not from the head....as this was a very close fight. I understand totally Jermain's past close calls...but I dont blame the fighter....he went in there everytime and left it all in the ring...win or lose. A fighter cannot control the "powers that be" so to say, so a decision going his way shouldnt go against him...but the corruption of the sport as a whole (Im way too drunk right now to get all philisophical). Taylor is a VERY good fighter who got the luck of the draw in a couple of close, debatable fights (I think I MAY type better drunk....tho when Im sober I may read this and it may say....kkweren asdf Taylor aksdfj Kelli... ). This doesnt take away from how good, or how talented he is...tho I can understand the frustration from a fan who had those close fights going in the opposite direction. Im praying this all makes sense when I read it tomorrow....:good
When I watch Taylor, I keep an eye on his left foot. As of the 7th round it started to slope backward, receding behind, while his upper body was leaning forward. As a result his chin was exposed. It looked like Pavlik was a round or two away from taking advantage of Taylor's ackward stance but he did only to some extent. Too slow. Conversely, Taylor's explosive attacks caught the eye more than Pavlik's entire body of work. I had it 115-113 Pavlik but either 114-114 or 115-113 Taylor would have been acceptable (to me).
It was a tight fight and Taylor did better than I could have expected. Taking Pavlik the distance says a lot about his resolve, but Morse-Jarman had it right. 115-113 for Pavlik. Duddy, Abraham, Wright, Lee...bring 'em on!!!
I don't see how anybody could. The guy has twenty THOUSAND posts on here and 3 out of every 4 of them are repeats.
I disagree with that last comment, this loss compares well to all of his so-called 'debatable' wins. I scored it 115-114 to Pavlik. Very close fight, not easy to score. At times I went with Taylor's more asthetically pleasing power punching and then at others favoured Pavlik's volume and consistency. I had it even going into the 12th, shame Taylor's stamina failed him in this fight, he had the technical beating of Pavlik (quite easily to). I think he will be a force at 168lbs, good luck to him too, he's a good kid and doesn't deserve the hate that gets heaped upon him.
