I completely agree with all of your posts in this thread. The ignorance and blinkered arrogance of Manny's more ardent 'fans' are exactly what makes me dislike him. It's the same with the rock band Journey since they recruited Manny's countryman, Arnel Pineda. A fantastic singer, just as Manny is a tremendous fighter and both do a lot of good humanitarian work but once again the bludgeoning idiocy of many of the Filipino fans has turned a lot of the US band's long term fans off the group.

These supporters share a common trait - Manny's couldn't give a toss about boxing outside of the Pacman's fights and are needlessly rude about other fighters or people who don't support their idol. Arnel Pineda's fans couldn't give a toss about Journey's 30+ year history and are dismissive of the past achievements of the band and rude to fans of the previous incarnations or those who don't fawn over their idol. For them the band started when Pineda joined just as boxing started with Manny.

There really is a whole lot of Kool Aid being sunk by both groups.

they might not know a lot of boxing but i bet you they know a lot better than you in a lot of other ways. if you think they are dumb? yeah maybe in boxing but they will make you the dumbest person on their own personal expertise.

 

Look, I've had anough of this Pacfans are dumb quotes. If we were dumbs, we would have been rooting or betting the losing fighter, but we're not, we've been winning so that means we're smart! On the other hand, you're dumb because you've been losing.

Knowing who the fighter this and that since boxing started doesn't make you a better analyst when all you need to see are the 2 that will be fighting. When Pac and Cotto fight, why should I be studying the styles of Henry Armstrong, or George Foreman? Like Pac said, when u take a science test, study science and you'll do great, when you study math to take a science test, you'll fail" or something like that. Does it make sense to you? If it doesn't, then you're dumber than I thought. As far as this fight goes, I only need to study Pac and Cotto, when he fights the next guy, I'll study the next guy.
