That's odd. Wonder if he had decided that before the fight or is just making a hasty decision based on this loss.
I don't blame him if he wants to do his own thing without his pops on his ass constantly. Has plenty of options and he's good at commentating. Next thing you know pops creeps in in one of his interviews and throws the towel claiming that it's not the commentating strategy we planed in training. I feel Shawn will probably be back to fight sooner or later, as he did pretty good against the #1 P4P fighter on many lists. Even Roy Jones Jr. had to get rid of his dad from training him at one point.
Understandable in a sense as there’s not much left for him to do. Pretty much unique in that he fought all his peers when they were at or near the top of WW (Spence, Crawford, Brook, Thurman) and got wins against the guys who were arguably a fraction below that (Garcia, Ugas). Part of me almost wants him to beat up a couple more B-level fighters, because he’s earned it. But it’s arguable whether there’s really much point.
He was talking about planning to retire even if he won or a draw, so I imagine this was well before the fight.
BIG LOL! the next thing the poor Shawn know is that his father just date the ugly ass mother of Crawford lol
Hate to see a good fighter go but this is exactly the perfect time. No one leaves at the perfect time so we'll be seeing Porter vs Ennis in January.
Pacquiao sure feel the same when he lost to Bradley(was thinking of retiring),but look after that: he fought Horn,Thurman...it's not finish until you have lost confidence in your ability.
