I was in shock that he got boo'd. I was like wtf. The biggest problem with the sport of boxing........the fans! Boo a great guy, always respectful, gives 100% each and every fight and fans boo him? The sport of boxing needs him more than he needs boxing. Good luck Mr. Porter. Keep moving forward and don't look back. We don't deserve you.
good call, he still has his brains in tact , commentary to come and podcasting on his youtube channel. won a world title fought his ****ing heart out great dude in a sport full of awful people, whatever you say about kenny he brought his son up really well. Respectful classy human being with a cool perspective on things, I wish him only well.
Wow, his dad ****ing controls him. You can see his dad looking at him like saying: "Say what I told you to say mother****er!"
Thanks for all the fire fights, buying ppv with you included is never a mistake. GL to Showtime for his future endeavors. Still gonna listen to your podcast.
His stock is probably at an all time high. Seems weird to retire now. But I guess he had Ward in his ear about safety and commentary so probably no surprise. Good fighter Porter. Could’ve probably lift a notch under a different trainer.
He is not a gatekeeper to being a contender, he is a gatekeeper to being an elite fighter. Aging and still putting in a good showing in defeat should have only made him more appealing for fighters like Ennis, Taylor, Ugas, etc. My guess is he will be back for one or two more, in another year or two. But if not, good for him and wish him the best. Always liked Porter.
Great fighter , fearless , always exciting to watch, good luck to him for the future such a likeable guy
Again, Porter's stock has only risen in defeat, but he has many other things on the go with the podcast and commentary. I wish him all the best.
It was not a terrible stoppage. Do you think that Porter could survive that round since he got 2 KDs already in the first minute of round 10? If his father had not stepped up in the ring to save his son then Porter could have been knocked down again for the third time (The 3 KDs rule).
I liked the spontaneous round of applause when he said that. It's almost impossible to love boxing and not love Shawn Porter, the attitude he brings to every fight. He's fallen agonisingly short a few times, but not for want of heart. I'm glad he's leaving whilst still at a very high level and hopefully in good shape physically, mentally and financially.
