Bernard Hopkins got savagely battered out of the ring. He said he'd hang 'em up win or lose tonight... and he should. A rematch could end just as badly for him. Seeing Joe Smith Jr continue to raise his stock is something boxing fans should be welcoming with open arms. More power and excitement being injected into the LHW division is a great thing. Had a feeling he was gonna hurt B-Hop tonight and he did on more than one occasion (and not just the stoppage).
Had a feeling he meant business after the Fonfara destruction. He's got a lot of potential as long he keeps working on sharpening his tools and making adjustments.
There really needs to be an investigation into who paid off the two judges, they shouldn't be allowed to judge a fight again. I had Hopkins down 5-2. If he was able to continue in the 8th, it would have been 6-2 with the 8th being a 10-8 round. They were likely about to commit the robbery of the year if Hopkins went the distance.
That was exactly what a knock the **** out is. Hops was OUT falling to the ground, OUT on his back and then OUT on his feet. That's the hardest hops ever been hit. Hurt so bad he thought claiming broke ankle was his best excuse ? How's landing on your fat ****ing head on CEMENT 5' below the ring NOT a much better excuse. Thank God hops had been KTFO of boxing, finallly
That was a brutal knockout. The most dangerous part about it was the way the back of Hopkins' head hit the floor. It didn't help that he was falling from a relatively high position as well. I hope Bernard watches the replay and realizes his claim of him being pushed out of the ring are completely inaccurate. He had a great career and should just move on to the next chapter in his life.
Yeah, what goes around and all that. To be honest this was the perfect ending to his career for nearly all boxing fans. Those who hang off his 'never get beaten by a white man' jibe can enjoy his final 'execution' - at the hands of a white man - and B-Hop's fans finally see their man quite literally forced from the ring into retirement. He didn't go quietly either. Must have made a fair thud when he hit the floor. Then we get the 'injury' which typifies a few of his losses. But I can't hate on the man. He shared the ring with a hungry young lion at the age of 52. Whatever anyone thinks of the guy, that takes some guts. His final loss will imbue some humility and finality for him, I hope. He can retire in peace knowing there's nothing left. And his haters will always have that YouTube clip to look back on whenever they want to. He divided opinion throughout his career, and he meant to. He liked to Alien-ate...
Is there any illusion the guy has been on PEDS for these last +10 years? And knowing that with age, your balance ( and thus power) diminishes, and therefore it gets more difficult to get the respect of your opponent, this pick of Smith reeks stupidity. There was only one way this fight was going to end. Who said Borenard couldn't entertain?
Give the man a break guys. He fought his heart out. You can dislike Bernard, me included but you can't help but give his just respect. boy what a chin, multiple shots, a metre fall on his head and still manage to get up before the count of 20. If it's not for a twist ankle lol
I was scared for Bhop after he cut a flip on the floor but then he starting yelling foul and the world became right again in my eyes. B...itch HOP Thanks for the memories BHOP
