Wow! The Evidence of Floyd Mayweather's Cherry Picking is Overwhelming

After watching the De La Hoya-Pacman fight again I began to think about how poorly Mayweather's hand chosen opposition has done lately.

Floyd Mayweather's last ten opponent's records are:
    26-18 as of today.

With very tomato can like 9 KO's (no, that's not a misprint 9 KO's the same KO % as Paul Malignaggi and this was against very poor opposition) that's a horrible showing from all the "great" fighters Mayweather has beaten.

What's even more astounding is that of the two with the most wins after they fought Mayweather (Henry Brussels and Victoriano Sosa) only one of them ever won a belt afterward.

Sosa has the best record 7 wins of the 26, but look at the records of who he fought:
    0-5-2
    1-7
    20-4
    9-9
    18-5
    13-8
    2-3

Now in case you think this list is cherry picked look at the previous 10 or 15 as well they are actually worse!

With greats like Emanuel Augustus and the all time great:

    http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=7593&cat=boxer

It gets worse and worse the further back you go.

I would add Mayweather's split win decision De La Hoya over as one of the worse. Not only did De La Hoya come out of that fight with not a mark on his face but then Forbes (he the powerful boxer with ONE career KO and has lost 4 of his last 5 fights!) bloodied De La Hoya and we all know how the undersized, former straweight Manny Pacquiao brutally destroyed my man Oscar.

It is often said the best way to establish a legacy is to beat all time greats. By my count Mayweather has beaten just two: Hatton and De La Hoya. We all know De La Hoya is/was washed up and Hatton was terrible at welterweight (he clearly lost the Luis Collazo, fight although the judges gave him the narrow decision). Gatti is close to an all time great but most boxing writers say he is not and he was washed up by the time they fought (he lost 3 of 4 fights starting with that fight and was dominated by Alfonso Gomez

Added to this it's not as if any of the fighters he has beaten will go on to be great, they are (and were) too old to begin with.

What ever legacy Mayweather had is fading by the day.

Your post is so flawed and has so many holes in it that I don't know where to start.:-( First off Gatti has never been mentioned as an ATG HOF at best to even say this shows you don't know what the **** you're talking about. Second Gatti was on a 5 fight win streak before he got schooled by PBF. :dealNext time know what the **** you're talking about before popping off at the mouth.:hi:

People were calling for this fight not to take place. Despite Gattis wins it was an obvious mismatch.

Even though I feel Hatton won against Collazo ,do you really feel that he would of done anything different at 140?

Considering he wouldn't weigh but a lb less on fight night against Mayweather?

Hatton would have schooled at any weight. He's simply too reckless and wide open for an elite counter-puncher like PBF.:deal

There were no other fights available.

Harris - Who showed he wasn't even worthy of fighting Mayweather on the night of the Gatti fight.

Cotto - Who all agree was too green and not ready. Arum wouldn't allow it.

Zoo - Fought for Showtime, impossible fight to make. Mayweather had to yet fight on PPV and the two networks have only come together twice for mega PPV showdowns.

Hatton - Hatton and Father declined the fight stating they were not ready.

So Gatti was the best title holder available.

People seem to think Hatton weighed the same on fight night against Mayweather like he did against Collazo.

Hatton was at Jr WW fighting weight.

Hatton would be beaten either way.

I agree. But it was Gatti who wanted the fight his people didn't want it. I remember here before the fight people were saying Gatti was too big and strong for PBF and would KO him.:yep

Oh man, I clearly remember that. Gatti was a natural but big 140lber. Floyd is too small, not powerful enough.

If you look at most fighters records, they all have a bunch of no names on there records, thats how they got those good records in the first place. Plus you do not necessarily have to fight all atgs to be a atg. Per division there are only 1 maybe 2 atg greats that fight around the same time, at some point the atg is not going to be as good as he once was i.e De La Hoya, you can fight solid opponents such as Castillo, Gatti, Corrales, Emanuel Augustus, Jesus Chavez, on top of atg fighters. This is nothing but another Floyd hater thread, this stuff is starting to sound really childish. People need to start applying the same arguments to every fighter.
