Wow UFC heavyweight division just got deeper

    Dana was quite explicit about the rationale - there's not enough depth in the division to have the fighters split across UFC and Strikeforce. The fact that the split is far more even between the two promotions no doubt has something to do about it as well.

    And yeah new deal between Showtime/Zuffa for 6-8 Strikeforce events next year. No challengers cards but they'll start to air prelims live on Showtime Extreme (a change their making for boxing).

    Now how the **** they fill eight cards with meaningful matches is beyond me. And I really don't see the point of keeping the light heavyweights in Strikeforce. That division was wafer thing even when the promotion was independent.

    Werdum wouldn't actually go for a sub on a guy that is basically out.

    He would just keep hitting him.

    Werdum has much better BJJ than Mir.

    I get the intense feeling that Mir's gameplan would be the sprawl and brawl so he would never have to put himself in a position to do something as stupid as try to sub him.
