Wow was just looking up salaries for boxing refs- absurd!

I think for top level fights refs should make more money. Getting paid so little to be in charge of major sporting events is dangerous. That leaves the door open to corruption. How the he.ll are refs paid so little to do such an important job but Micheal Buffer utters a few words and is worth hundreds of millions?!!!

 

10k for a night's work isn't too bad

Kenny Bayless made $10,000 for less than an hour of work? And these referees are boxing fans and have the best view in the house... LOVING YOUR JOB... that in itself is the greatest perk.

 

Not even a night... maybe 2 hours max between signing forms and giving dressing room instructions. Hotel, meals, and travel paid for.

 

Michael Buffer makes $50k per fight. So IMO 10k for the ref doesn't seem so out of proportion. The amount of top class ref's is in 10-20 range, whereas there are fewer top class ring announcers.

 

That's a fully paid sweet week family vacation paid for in ONE nights "work" we have fans claiming they need MORE $$$ for a night they need zero extra preparation for ?

It's good money for a night's work.

I think referees should get paid more for heavyweight fights. It's heavier work

 

I'd love to be on that kind of money.

If anything you've highlighted how good of a pay refs get.

They have a longer career and can ref more often than fighters. If they do 5 fights a month they're comfortably millionaires.

 

That's pretty bad for the biggest money fight ever.

 

The Actual officiating part is 12 rounds, 3 minutes each; and a rest for 1 minute. (although, they are walking around, checking fighters, talking to the doctors, giving instructions, etc which is part of the equation). 10K for not even a full hour of work. I understand there is prefight instructions and other prep work involved, but 48 minutes of officiating a fight is superb pay!

 

$10,000 for 36 minutes of work is a decent rate.

 

most of these guys have full time jobs.
10k for working a few hours on the weekend is pretty sweet!

It's not like they're training hours a day like fighters and then putting their lives on the line. Fighters who have to pay a trainer, S+C coach, masseuse,cut man, nutritionist, manager etc etc etc out of their cut
