How can most of these "fans" on ESB really call themselves objective
boxing fans, when they advocate an american fighter fighting complete bums, but euro fighters get drilled for fighting mis-mandatories. Hopkins has no call for fighting ornelas, a middleweight, who's had 5 losses, and been KO'd at middleweight by a journeyman. He's claiming this as a give back fight to his community of N philly, well ok, but don't make it out that your opponent is gonna give me a good fight. This is a tune-up for the jones bout, but RJJ isn't taking a tune-up. He's facing a legit top 10
lightheavyweight in a foreign country, while the vastly overrated popkins
will bore us once again, but this time against below par opposition. Allthewhile, the subhuman hiphop debree that inhabit this site will no doubt defend this sharade of a contest as a worthy event, while they blast every euro fighter for not fighting the best guy in his division in a foriegn country every fight. The casual idiot american fan is ruining boxing.

    Simple!

Im a big b-hop fan but i don't wana see this fight. I was hoping that we would eventually see a hopkins johnson rematch. There styles wud make for a gud fight. It wud be kinda of funny if danny green beat jones and maybe then if johnson was to beat dawson the fight would happen.

I watched Ornales/Rubio a few times prior to Pavlik/Rubio. I thought there was something wrong with my computer. Surely they weren't THAT much slower than Kelly were they? They were. Kelly toyed with Rubio making him miss with upper body movment and head movement. Yeah. That's right. Kelly did that with Rubio. The guy that beat Ornales for his shot at Pavlik. When I can see it, it is VERY obvious.

I don't think his loss to Rubio was bull at all. The point is he ain't in Hopkin's league at all.

I hope Hopkins suffers a nasty cut and has to cancel the Roy Jones fight.

Well, you ignored the point and after having watched it several times, I don't think there was a nickel's worth of difference between the two in that fight myself. Maybe my impression was swayed by Steward saying Rubio was throwing the 'crispier' punches.

I think he should be fighting Dawson; I think Dawson would take the fight; it sucks it isn't happening. But he's fought 6 quality fights opponent-wise in a row (Winky a question given the weight) and is looking to cash out at 44 - pretty easy to cut that situation some slack.

No, it's not a worthwhile event and nobody will watch it. Big deal. It's a stay-busy, he's not a title holder, this isn't that different from other tune up situations. I wouldn't be surprised if the RJJ/Green fight magically falls through, either.

But if you don't see a difference between Hop's scenario and Sturm's string of poor defenses or, say, Volero's for that matter, you're blind.

The level of idocy on this site never ceases to amaze me. Now if Hopkins decided to sit on the sidelines and not fight until the Jones fight, no one would care. So why the **** would you complain about him taking an interim bout? I'm glad he's taking this fight. Ornelas will give him some good work. I can now go see this fight live without spending a fortune. Did I also mention that he's donating his entire purse to charity? As far as Jones, he agreed to the Green bout before he came to terms with Hopkins. He's getting paid $4 mill for that fight so there's no way in hell he would pull out. You have to be a complete jackass to criticize a 44 year old fighter for taking a tune up bout where he's donating his purse to charity and putting on an affordable show for the good people of Philly who have supported him since day one. The threadstarter is ignorant and should be ashamed of himself for getting on a fighter who's actually doing right by the sport.
