Does anyone know of any boxers who wrap their own hands before a fight? Is it even allowed? Thanks.

Honestly, I can't think of anyone who does that at a bout.

If your concerned about not having someone to do yours, just bring gauze and tape(scissors is a plus too). You can generally offer like $5-$20 to someone else's coach to wrap your hands and having your own supplies covers your butt in case they are out. My coach gets asked occasionally at our fights.

It's really just a ritual kind of thing, I've always wrapped my own hands, it helps me get focused haha. Guess I'll ask my coach about it though!

Usually when my hands are getting wrapped is when those nerves start to hit so I can see what your saying. xD Power to ya then.

i take it you're amateur? what country are you in?

usa you can still use gauze. the allowance isway more than what you actually need. check out the rules at http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Boxing/Rulebook/Competition-Rules

if you're used to regular handwraps you can also use velpeau. it can be ordered from lots of online complanies and used globally. it is slightly shorter than the 180" wraps you're already probably using in the gym. won't be much different.

and, i think manny pacquio wraps his own hands.

Yes I'm an amateur in the UK, will be moving to Florida next year though so the link really comes in handy, thanks a lot for the info!

I always assumed it would be pretty difficult to do with all the cutting, holding in spots, taping. Guess I'll have to try it out now.

almost anything can be achieved with practice. many boxers in California use (in the gym) reusable "mexican handwraps" that come in little rolls of yellow plastic wrap; two rolls per hand. first one makes a pad and locks it in place and the next one is criss cross and thumb support. it's almost like art watching them put them on.
