No doubt I love it bro when we got wrestlers come to our school and I roll with them usually they get some explosive takedown on me because ill admitt im not a wrestler im not horrible at it considering I never wrestled but thats not my game. But when they get me down its hillarious cause they have no clue what to do and I start tooling them. Wrestling is great but if you cant do nothing once you get the guy down it dont mean alot because any quality ground fighters will sweep or submitt you.

The main difference and advantage wrestlers have is that it is possible to become proficient at submissions (or at least submission defense) quite quickly - however the opposite isnt the case, ie very few strikers or jitsu guys become great wrestlers later in their careers.

Most of the dominant, era defining fighters in MMA have been wrestlers.

Exactly, the exception that proves the rule :good (although he certainly isnt the best wrestler in mma).

The other main advantage the wrestler has is how versatile it is, it cana be used defensively (Liddell), offensively; in the cage its even more of an adv.; pinning up against the cage, dirty boxing etc. Palhares is a ****ing Gandalf on the mat but he couldn't take hendo down so his skills were useless.

I have a vagina like scar on my knee from it, but its a fight, expect to not walk away 100%, but it was worth it; people are completely clueless on the ground and you can really open up on them.

Giving credit where credit is due there was one moment when Palhares ripped Henderson straight up and threw him down - yet for most of the match he was ineffective against Henderson's superior wrestling.

I think there is a very legitimate argument to be made that GSP has the best MMA wrestling in the biz.

i gotta scar on my right knee myself, looks more like a dick though, lol jj, nah really do for the same reason, and now htat i have jiujitsu and boxing i dont see myself using wrestling in a street fight ever again, too dangerous, and theres a lot more to jits than just the ground, its also a self defense system that helps with countering headlocks attackers who grab you on the throat shirt etc., stuff that happens in a regular fight with joe six pack (this election has been good for new john doe names hasnt it)

i geuss i personally subscribe to relson gracie's philosophy on a street fight (i go to a relson gracie school and he teaches evry so often) and thats who cares if you won the fight if your face got all ****ed up, engage your opponent on your own terms, avoid getting clinched by your opponent at all costs, and last but not certainly least, break that ****ers arm

:think On the street however, I would fancy Krav Maga over BJJ. But, that is a whole different thread.

That video is filled with outright falsehoods and misdirection.

This video with Rickson explains some of the science behind the techniques.

Said techniques in action - in actual fights.

Re: Jiujitsu fighters need mats to fight on. These karate fighters said the same thing. These fights are on hard tile.
