i wish gatti & corrales were still alive & well & giving us classic fights,i miss watchin those two......
Unfortunately, when I browse this forum, there often seems to be a war between two cults rather than any general love for the sport itself. This place has become a 'Floydette vs *******' wasteland, rife with idiocy and horribly biased rants. There is a strong 'if you're not with us, then you're against us' mentality in place, and objectivity has apparently fled into exile, only appearing again on the rare occasion. Most of the best posters, apparently cynical and disillusioned with the hive of scum and villainy known as the General Forum, hide themselves in the Classic section and use it as an escape, a safe refuge. While this is understandable, it also results in tipping the balance even further and making this part of the forum even more dismal. Threads about Floyd and Xylocaine are instantly locked or deleted, wheras threads about steroids and Pac are completely untouched, proving, in my opinion, that the lack of objectivity and good sense even extends to the moderators, or at least one of them. To sum it all up -- somethin' is rotten in the state of ESB, yo. Oh, and I'm also curious about the Ellerbe avatar.
Waiting has been all too familiar for Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez. The man who grew up practicing to be the next Diego Maradonna instead of the next Carlos Monzon dispactched several underwhelming opponents for ten years waiting for a proper promotion. After finally drawing the attention of Lou DiBella, Sergio Martinez began to wait to push his name into the forefront of boxing. After being robbed twice in a single match against Kermit Cintron and losing a spirited, close decision to Paul Williams, Sergio was still waiting. On April 17th, the wait ended. Sergio punished reigning Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik en route to a comfortable unanimous decision, the weight was over, the mountain finally climbed.
