Revisiting Pacquiao-Hatton fight : Did Oscar give Hatton wrong advice making him underestimate Pacquiao's punching power so that he threw caution to the wind leaving himself defenseless? Here is a report:

De La Hoya said Hatton shouldn't be concerned about Pacquiao's punching power. "I felt Manny's punches, but I didn't feel power at that weight," said De La Hoya, who fought Pacquiao at 147 pounds. Saturday's junior welterweight bout is at 140. "(Pacquiao) does have power at 135, but I don't know about 140," De La Hoya said. "I was saying (to Hatton) don't' be intimidated by people saying Manny has power. The speed is a concern."

Did Oscar advise Cotto in his coming fight on how to deal w/ Pacquiao's power when they played golf in Puerto Rico? I hope he didn't.

it was a combination of both, DLH has experienced being hit by stronger punches because of the divisions he's been. But DLH was right about the speed. A not so hard punch will be much more dangerous if you cant see them.

DLH was right. During the Hatton-Pac fight, i had the impression that Hatton couldn't see Pac's punches. Everyone knows that its the punches that you don't see are the ones that hurts you.

No. The responsibility for Hatton's failure lies on his on doorstep. The man has absolutely no intelligence and a total disregard for strategy or defence. He's always been wild. And he's still in denial. The man is just delusional, always has been, and always will be.

Pacquiao's perfectly landed punch had more to do w/it.
(Hatton is to seasoned a pro for that excuse, he got caught...Get over it)

Hatton just went wild as he always does when the pressure heater gets hot.

His punch resistance is also much lower than it was in the past, I have my doubts that those shots are anything like Tsyzus were...

Too bad Hatton didnt listen to Diaz.

"Tell him not to do what most of us do," Diaz says. "Tell him to try and make it into a boxing match."

Look man these are psychological games. Oscar was saying this to make Pac feel uneasy. Do you think he said to Hatton jump like an idiot with your hands down because Pac don't hit hard!!??? No I'm sure when they were alone he told him that in fact Pac hits hard and that he must think about his defense. He is going to say the same think to Cotto. Oscar is not an idiot. Hatton just got carried away by the event.

Actually its beginning to be an old tune. DLH, Diaz, MAB, etc...all of them said Pac didnt hit that hard. Ofcourse.

Regardless of what advice was given - Hatton's aggression was his main downfall - along with Manny's punches.

O.K man if this is going to make you feel comfortable you can believe every non-sens that trainers, figthers and managers are saying in order to disturb the other camp. Of course I imagined the situation but I'm sure for myself that Oscar didn't tell him to attack irresponsibly the way he did.
