    ESPN tonight at 11.45

    Ward looked very good, won every round on each of the judges score cards

    Took to WSB like a duck to water

    It was a really good night, Celtic Manor is a good venue & Id definately go again.

    Joyce settled down nicely behind the jab after a tough 1st round, thats an impressive win for him.

    Selby was sharp & I really enjoyed his poised & reflexive style. He landed some lovely counters & has some classy moves, some unorthodox ones too. Best performance of the night imo.

    Ward was the fighter I was most looking forward to seeing but he didnt really get out of 2nd gear. He cruised to a convincing win without really opening up.

    Nevin had a tough fight with Stankovic, very similar to their 1st fight last year. I thought Nevin edged it but it was a close fight that couldve gone either way.

    The Evans fight was the chess match Id expected with 2 southpaw counter-punchers. Tavares landed the better shots through out & was very unlucky not to get the decision.

    That was the first time Ive seen Ward and from they hype Ive read on this forum I was a bit disappointed.

    i think we are so used to seeing exciting amateur prospects turning pro and being spoonfed tomato cans to look good against in their first 10-20 fights where its really an exercise in looking good and blowing away crap opposition to increase their value.

    I like this format, its very much sink or swin. Everyone is in the same boat and the fights are very competitive.

    Ward won every round on every judges card against an opponent with excellent amateur pedigree (seasoned in WSB and a European bronze medalist), and he did it in 2nd gear.

    He has the makings of a terrific fighter. Showed another string to his bow tonight in fighting completely off the back foot. And only turned 19, its crazy!
