Round 1

Selby is drifting to either direction in wide semicircles around Toitov. Right jabs from Toitov attempting to cut the ring off. Selby slaps in a right hook to the belly while stepping around him. Toitov darts in and out placing his jab while tilting his head out of the way of Selby's left hands from the hip. Selby keeps leading with lefts and putting in the high right hook behind it. Straight combination hurts Toitov! Selby jumps in and flurries on him. Selby finishes with a looping left to the solar plexus.

Round 2

Toitov is boxing Selby from long range, getting a firm line on the right jab to the face and the straight left to the body. Selby is trotting around, trying to get angles to work in with right hooks. Toitov is keeping him out with his long straight shots. A few nice hooks threaded in by Selby but mostly Toitov is dictating pace and range and scoring with his jab.

Round 3

Toitov is bouncing jabs off Selby's face and curling in the left against his ear. Selby is putting in straight lefts to the stomach and trying to swing around with torque on right hooks to the chest while holding his hands low in a loose stance and circling at mid-range. Toitov is aggressively sticking his jab firmly out into Selby's face and forcing him backward. Selby tries to parlay his movements into circling instead of continuing to go straight back after a step or two. Toitov is landing every jab coming forward. Selby gets his forearms up to block a Toitov 1-2. Short right hook by Toitov and he ducks a counter combination from Selby. Big clapping overhand right by Selby. Toitov throws some big shots advancing as Selby sways above the waist to slip them moving in reverse.

This is it. If Toitov loses the 4th on two of the cards, the Astana Arlans are done.

 

Round 4

Toitov is jogging to his right and whipping in torpedoes to the body with both hands. Selby circles with a high guard and widens his stance, ambling in and dropping a 1-2 into the bridge of Toitov's nose before raising his arms to acknowledge the crowd. Body shot by Toitov. Lunging left by Toitov as Selby trots away. Selby puts out a left jab from the orthodox stance and tucks his elbows into a tighter stance. Selby is playing keepaway and tossing out jabs with either hand, switching stances every few steps. Toitov lands a left to the body and has a follow-up right hook blocked up top.

Round 5

Toitov is reaching in with his right jab, as Selby windmills lefts at him springing in from a backward leaning half-crouch. Selby strafes in either direction and then dives in with a flurry to the belt line. More lateral mvoement by Selby. Right jab to the belly by Toitov, but Selby leaps to the side to dodge his left cross. Swatting combos by Selby moving right. Toitov overreaches with the jab. Clinch. Toitov's arms look to be slowing. Nice straight right to the body by Selby, knocking Toitov onto his heels. Double right jab and a line drive left by Selby, falling short but keeping Toitov out. Jabs coming forward by Toitov. Selby is on his bike, staying out of range. Selby ducks a chopping combination. Selby is back to frenetic stance switching, tossing jabs out of either. Lots of movement by Selby, avoiding the ropes. Sweeping right hook to the body by Selby, missing as Toitov hits the brakes. Toitov chases him with jabs. Selby jitterbugs and slips jabs, using the ropes for buoyancy.

Selby acknowledges it was very close and worthy of a split decision.

He says Toitov landed cleaner, but he was much busier. He says it was the sort best left up to the judges to decide and today they picked him.
