Scrappier round, most competitive I've seen since tuning in during the 2nd. Limone got in some wide body slaps and even caught Butsenko pulling straight back with a long uppercut. Still Butsenko's, though.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Charly Suarez, lightweights (57-61kg)

 

The Filipino started strong my last time seeing him against Yunusov, but let the Tajikistani back into it. (my card read a draw, same as the official judges)

It should be more of a challenge than usual for Vasyl, but nothing he can't handle.

 

Round 1

Lomachenko is forcing Suarez back with his right jab out of a tight high guard. Suarez is bouncing around tossing light flurries. Nice right hook to the body by Lomachenko. 1-2-2 by Suarez, caught on the mitts. Lomachenko is weaving side to side on his way in. NICE combo by Lomachenko, right hook to the body and some lefts up top. Suarez leans back from a jab and Lomachenko follows through with a left uppercut grazing his jaw. Suarez throws away a lead right into Lomachenko's guard. Flurry by Suarez, dodged as Lomachenko peeks out from behind his thumbs. BIG corkscrew right to the beltline by Suarez; Lomachenko steps quickly back out of the way. Big right hand by Suarez as they close together, but Lomachenko responds with several hard-ripped right hooks to the body.

Round 2

Lomachenko is doubling his jab coming forward. Suarez shimmies side to side while moving left. Suarez tosses out sidearm flurries while retreating, falling short. Suarez reaches out and shoves Lomachenko with knuckles to his chest. BIG LEFT UPPERCUT TO THE SOLAR PLEXUS BY LOMACHENKO! Ouch! Suarez moves in and clinches with Lomachenko putting his forearms together like a vice around his temples attempting to dissuade him from holding. Suarez circles and flicks in a tentative left jab.

Round 3

Lomachenko is floating the southpaw jab and crowding in on Suarez. BIG CHOPPING LEFT!! SUAREZ HURT! Lomachenko axes down with more lefts as Suarez tries to regain his footing. BIG RIGHT HOOK BY LOMACHENKO! Suarez holds. Suarez turns his back as Lomachenko is swinging in another right hook. The ref gets control. Suarez tries to hold and gets swatted back with a right hook. Desperate straight flurries by Suarez. Lomachenko chases him into a corner. Big right hook to the body. Looping right by Suarez, aiming for Lomachenko's chin but arcing several inches past & in front of it. Big right hook by Lomachenko. Suarez dips at the knees and grabs onto Lomachenko. Lomachenko puts in right hooks to the tender left flank of Suarez and left crosses to his nose. Lomachenko keeps pounding, right hook to the body, wrist snapped up to jab the face, another right hook to the body, and DOWN GOES SUAREZ!! Less than ten seconds left. Lomachenko jumps on him, huge combos!! Suarez shells up!
