They won't even bother conducting the sudden death bout, right? :huh

That was only in case a tiebreaker was needed, I thought.

Astana has their own theme song. This looks like the biggest mismatch of the night and Roman shoud be motivated after getting horribly robbed after winning all 5 rounds vs Bernath only to get jobbed.

    Round 1

Kapitonenko runs in and shows a right jab. Villalba ducks and rolls to the side. Jabs to the body by Villalba. Low clinch by Villalba. Break. Kapitonenko trots in on him, and Villalba grabs both legs and nearly flips him upside down before the ref gains control. Both of them miss hooks standing upright. Kapitonenko catches Villalba ducking with a plunging right jab to the face. Clinch. Villalba is warned. Extremely slow ponderous right hook by Kapitonenko, ducked. Villalba grabs his legs again. The ref deducts a point. Villalba just grins at him. They finish up the last half minute dancing at range, flicking long jabs at each other without reaching.

    10-8 Kapitonenko

Villalba uses the Dirrell defense, bend your head to opponents knee level then grab waist.

I don't know man - as bad as Villalba is (and doing his part to make this hideous) Kapitonenko isn't making a great first impression on me. Slow as molasses and doesn't seem to have a very high ring IQ.

    Round 2

Kapitonenko jabs at Villalba. Uppercut and mallet combos by Kapitonenko, slow but heavy. Villalba's knees buckle and he almost goes down, but pitches into Kapitonenko and holds onto him for support. They both wind up going down in a heap. Villalba spits out his gum shield while sitting to buy more time. He snickers to himself while intentionally walking away from the ref in the neutral corner pretending to be confused and disoriented. Villalba isn't taking this seriously at all. They flurry together with overhands and both miss or catch a bit of flesh just below the ear.

    10-9 Kapitonenko

    20-17 Kapitonenko

Check out the Bernath fight he's quite entertaining. This guys wild swing and clinch style is just hard to be effective against.

    Round 3

Kapitonenko steps in and drops a hoeing right. Villalba tries punching in sync with him and then grabs. The gum shield comes out in the clinch. The ref takes another point. They flurry together and clinch once more. Villalba spits his gum shield out again. That's it. He is disqualified.

You can tell Kapitonenko is disappointed with having to earn it that way. He would've preferred to have a shutout or KO on his record.

Villalba meanwhile looks like the cat who ate the canary, wearing a mischievous grin with a phony apologetic hunch to his shoulders.
