Round 3

Kurbanov is putting in uppercuts and left hooks. Riscan crosses his arms over his face and gets knocked across the ring by Kurbanov's power combos. Right hooks and high slicing lefts by Riscan, desperate to beg off some breathing room. Kurbanov goes to the body. Kurbanov is all over Riscan, hooking him into the ropes. Riscan puts in a left to the body but is grabbed by the wrist and pulled forward into an uppercut. Riscan puts up a light jab and then shovels in a right hook but fails to get any snap on it. Kurbanov sidesteps and bangs him over the top. Whipping shots from side to side by Kurbanov, up and down.

All three judges gave it 10-9 to Kurbanov and have it 30-26 to Kurbanov overall.

 

The Otamans only need one bout of five to eliminate the Baku Fires.

Obviously it looks unlikely to be Riscan who ends their dreams.

Maybe Lomachenko? :deal Not that he wasn't under pressure in this one already. :yep

 

Round 4

Kurbanov is popping Riscan with right hands to the forehead and left hooks to the body, slamming him into submission. Riscan fires off quick straight flurries into Kurbanov's guard but can't slow him down. High reaching right hook by Riscan leaning away, grazing but affecting his own balance more than Kurbanov's. Riscan goes down, ruled a slip but probably in part due to accumulation. Kurbanov keeps wailing on him as Riscan takes occasional stands to little to no avail.

All three judges gave it 10-9 to Kurbanov and have it 40-35 to Kurbanov overall.

 

Round 5

Kurbanov is using his jab running in to get Riscan to react, usually with a predictable low swoop, and then banging him on the face with a heavy pendulous uppercut. Hard hooks to the head, ribs, and just behind the bicep by Kurbanov, like one of those handheld percussion instruments with the two balls on strings. (IB is going to edit this sentence to make himself come off more worldly and elegant in a while, but is too engrossed at present to open another browser tab and bother). Huge uppercut flurries by Kurbanov. Riscan is dancing away, pawing the right jab weakly, and holding when Kurbanov charges.

Strets'kyy is circling left and waving his right jab. He clinches as Vesialou comes in with a high dribble-drop 1-2. Vesialou switches it up and leads with a right hook, catching Strets'kyy on the cheek before the clinches. He repeats with success.
