What's the risk? Knockouts are more common in amateur boxing than in the WSB, which is why they've gotten rid of the headgear in amateur boxing now.

You realise that the competition in the WSB is the same competition they'd be fighting at amateur tournaments? How is fighting good opponents bad for a fighters development anyway? Is your name Gary Russell jr. by any chance?

    lmao! jokes.

my point is...if u are going to fight the best from another country...it should be in a setting like the pan am games, world games or the olympics where a gold medal is on the line....not in some empty ball room with cameras that might be capturing it for an audience of a few thousand.

is that so hard to understand??? as a fighter....these guys want money and fame. the wsb ain't delivering on either. if it don't make dollars...it don't make sense.

What risk? If you want to develop, you want to fight the good opposition which will help you develop more properly. I may remind you again that this is not pro boxing we are talking about. A defeat here won't reduce your future earning potential or possibility to get the big fights, it's not how it works here. There is no risk you are talking about. If you constantly fight the low quality opponents (which is usual for the pros), it won't get you ready for the Olympics or World/Continental Championships. Boxers here actually want to fight as many good opponents as possible in order to get themselves ready. Get as much experience as possible until the main stage arrives. That's the point.

Speak for yourself, some people play sports because *shock horror* they want to be good at their sport and achieve things for themselves and their country/team. With the WSB they get to do that and they get paid while keeping their amateur status. The WSB is meaningless in the US because the US are **** at amateur boxing, in places like Ukraine and Kazakhstan their boxers are national heroes. The Pan am games are a regional tournament, I don't know why you hold that tournament in such high regard.
You honestly sound like a 12 year old who listens to too much rap music and has never stepped out of your neighbourhood, you're woefully ignorant when it comes to this subject.

I like skill doesn't matter where your from! and you shouldn't really justify the robberies, Cruz is two time world champ for a reason, and he won every round of the fight aagainst a guy who joe ward has stopped and beaten twice, He outlanded and outworked the russia in every round, and toirac aswell, I'v seen fighters on the end of unfair decisions for instance paddy barnes but not like the cruz fight, I refuse to support what there doing its criminal

Im just saying if Cruz really wanted to make sure he won the fight he should have stepped it up a notch and dominanted, Ivanov was landing some big shots and dancing around and throwing a few jabs isnt always going to get you the result away from home. Cruz never wants to engage with the elite fighters in the light heavyweight division i think because his afraid of there power. It was a bad decision but iv seen worse in the WSB . Only saw the first 2 rounds of the Toirac fight and while he had more skill was faster and bigger , he let the Russian make the rounds look close which was his downfall in the rounds i saw

Have to disagree, Cruz did dominate and threw way more shots than ivanov, they were levels apart and thats got to be t he worst decision in WSB, espically with the response from fans lots and feedback on WSB page about it more so than any other fight, aswell toirac won easily, its not there job to fight the judges if they win they win bro, u shouldn't try to justify robberies

Im not trying to justify the robberys but iv seen worse robberys than this and you only kick up when it happens to the Cubans. Cruz should have engaged Ivanov more and stopped fighting on the back foot the entire fight, there was one point in the where Ivanov dropped his hands and moved back mocking Cruz for the way he was fighting

Well the feedback from the fans tells you everything, never seen as much complaints about a fight before because people aren't stupid they know who won, especially with the caliber of fighter hes the best, the style in which cruz used is called boxing bro, hit and not get hit, he outboxed ivanov easily nothing wrong with his style! he hit him with bigger shots and more shots

Theres nothing wrong with his style if it was the old point scoring amateur system but more things are taken into account in the new scoring system, he is the best but his afraid to engage with the top fighters in the 81kg division. Sep rocked him in there WSB bout and when he fought the polish team he had no problem going forward and finishing the job because he was against poor opposition. When he snaped into life in the Mammadov fight he was amazing some of the best boxing you will ever see, but Mammadov looked terrible at 81kg and shouldnt be fighting at that weight his 6'5.

I like Cruz but his jab and move style will see him drop decisions away from home especialy if his opponent is aggresive and landing shots

Also Ivanov and Cruz fought once before in 2011 at the Bocskai Memorial Tournament with Ivanov winning 5-2
