Brandon Ríos calls out Gary Russell Jr for may 2012 bout

rios pissed about the exposure russell has been receiving as of late says after he gets by Kevin Mitchell

A fight scheduled as a undercard bout of pacquiao vs. marquez 3. On nov/12/2011

rios says there is two dates open for him in may of 2012 and he would love his opponent to be Gary Russell jr.

thou i think this would be a good scrap in 2-3 years RUSSELL is not ready also no mention of what weight said bout would take place at. dose rios expect him to move up this early in his development or is he going 2 cut weight ?:verysad

i hope russell dont try and cash out this early in his Career as i feel he has the Potential to develop into something special

    If this is true...

Another case of a bigger guy, calling out a fighter 2 weight divisions lower than him.

It's one thing for a small guy to call out a larger guy. But calling out a much smaller man.

    What's up with that?

Two? It's been a year since Mr. Russell was involved in a bout where both participants weighed in below the SFW limit (six straight now where they haven't).

I know Boxrec has him listed/rated at featherweight but he's honestly not one at this point. The WBC ranks him #20 at super feather.

That's my point so why risk his status as the airapperant so early.
I hope he don't do it even though
IMHO it is a very winnable 4 him.
but I just think he is about half duzin fights away from competing at his full potential against elite opposition.

I don't blame Rios. Russell has gotten a lot of hype and that fight with Miranda (who is a good journeyman himself) is a fight is nothing more than on a ShoBox card or an opener on ESPN2. That fight got him quite a great payday, that was near or may have surpassed what Rios has gotten for his two title fights. That's just messed up and I don't blame Rios for being pissed off at all. It's just that certain fighters get pampered and get hyped to be the next best thing, while others have to do it the right way and work your way up toward a big payday.

Gary Russell Jr is a ****ing featherweight, Rios is a big lightweight/light-Welterweight.

    Ridiculous matchup.
