The other day I read that they are looking at Mayorga and today I read that Alfonso Gomez is another option!? Those would be great fights IF HE WAS A ****EN PROSPECT OR CONTENDER!!! Hes a ****en champ time to step it up and get some reasonable opponents. His ****en management are making him look bad twoards hard boxing fans, but then again is not us hard boxing fans that promoters care about. Its the noobs and the ones who get pumped easly with mismatches that bring in the $. I'm a canelo fan but he s a champion, he needs to defend against top opposition, all I think when I hear Alfonso gomes is him geting battered by Cotto, and you can now add mayorga to that list...

    people are never satisfied....

the kids 20 years old...i know he's champ already, but that title was pretty much bull****.....so relax

vargas at 20 did what many fans "supposedly" want every fighter to do....look at him now, and look at the fans saying he WAS TOO YOUNG.....

He's a 20yo w/ a very limites amatuer background, if any. I don't like that he has a title, but that's all it is, a title practically given to him. He's not known as the JrMW champ (although I don't know who is...vacant?). Right now, those types are fine. But if he's promoted as the JrMW champ, then maybe he will need to act like it.

all these people complaining is only because canelo has a belt, thats the only reason, if he was a contender everyone would be fine with these match ups.
im starting to think suleiman gave the belt to canelo to make him go vargas and messed up early as a plot designed with chavez.
Im cool with canelo vs mayorga though, gomez is a welterweight and should fight a guy like matt hatton.

Mayorga IS STILL a very very dangerous fight for anyone bar the very best fighters. Canelo looked very average just a fight ago v Matt Hatton.
Mayorga brings excitement, and the Mexican fans IMO would love his style. Not a bad match up in my opinion, as Mayorga with those fast unorthadox punches might, just might!

Well yes you are right but its a big money fight and also Cotto just fought this guy and he is an established champion so i dont see what the big deal is. He just took care of his mandatory rhodes and this is nothing more than a big money fight.

I have a bet going on with Dustaine if this fight gets made. Canelo beats Mayorga and he does not get KD in the process.

Id say the are wary of throwing him in with Cintron givin that he beat a highly fancied Angulo.

I disagree. If the kid isn't ready to get a title the real way, then don't force the issue by manuevering him into a paper title, without having faced a real champion to get the belt. Belt holders are expected to defend against worthy opposition regardless of how they got the belt. There are more deserving guys than Alfonso Gomez or Ricardo Mayorga. Neither of them have earned the right to get a title fight, point blank period.

YEa he should defend against worthy opponents like all other champions do. Not any of the other champions duck or avoid anyone. Every champ always fights the best!!!

Come on dude. Its boxing. You must be new. I agree he didnt need a title yet but it is what it is. You might want to consider a new sport because unfortunately this is the norm in boxing now.
