Gomez is a great test ... he's skilled and he can push Canelo to the limit. He's always in great shape and ready to go. I think since he's a Mexico born American he needs to prove himself to his fellow countrymen who don't speak english. Sorta like Camacho and Trinidad.

I think his optional defenses can be against who he wants them to be against. His mandatories can be against whoever the sanctioning body chooses. Gomez is a legit top rated welterweight. Mayorga is one of those fighters who top notch fighters have to fight to test their will. I would like to see him demolish the overrated Vanes and the one dimensional Angulo even though I think that'll be tougher than any but a huge event nonetheless.

Canelo just faced his Manadatory if they want to give him a soft touch to double headline with Mayweather and get a huge audience MAYORGA would be perfect for this 20 year old kid. There have been many champs to avoid there Mandos... and Canelo faced him right away...

Anyways Cotto just faced Mayorga.. so who cares. Canelo has a long time left.

I would love to see him shut Vanes up. Dude gets on my nerves. Guy barely got past Saul Roman and he wants to act like he is a champ now.

I hope the fight gets made soon.

Well just cuz it's the norm in boxing now don't mean we have to accept it. Just because this champ or that champ don't defend against the best, our champ should follow suit?

Personally I would like to see Canelo defend against Vanes.

I know he was all beat up and **** ... and he lost to Kassim Ouma who was kickin his ass from post to post. He's overrated as hell ... that's why he has yet to fight for a title and he doesn't have a solid fan base.

Vanes is no one though... just an up and coming guy who has exposure cause of roach.

If he fought Vanes there would still be haters...

ESB would not be happy unless he signed to fight Cotto/Angulo/Martinez/PAC/Mayweather

and they probaly would criticize an angulo win.

Soon Canelo will face everyone in due time.

I don't know Doc, Vanes is like the #1 WBC & WBO contender. I can see haters discrediting Canelo with an Angulo win, but Vanes i think would be legit.

One interesting thing though...You know Vanes had a some great sparring sessions with Chavez Jr. if Canelo were to fight Vanes and beat him everybody would be asking for Vanes opinion on who is better fueling the rivalry.

That's good, and you shouldn't. TOO many!! :dead
That said, if one doesn't recognize said figher as THE World Champ of the division, they shouldn't have the expecations of a World Champ. In my eyes, most titleists are merely top contenders to the ONE champ.

Alvarez vs Cotto/Angulo/Matiroysan/Cintron/Williams should be his next fight.

He's only 20 years old, ffs. If you aren't happy when it then stop following his career and tune back in when he is 25.... and still VERY young.

I have to agree with you here...I was about to use Vargas as my example but you pretty much touched up on my point!

He may be champ but getting an ABC title isnt that hard to do now a days...He needs to step up his comp. when he's a little bit more mature IMO.
