There's a lot of NON great HOFmers out there. KT was the most dominant Jr Welter weight champion the division ever had in terms of title defenses and longevity in the division. he never beat a GREAT fighter but he was consistant and pretty dominant.

He got in for the same reason Tyson got in; he was a dominate and undisputed world champion. Don't see what all the debate is even about, the general consensus was is that he was a future HOFer after his second win over Mitchell.

No exactly accurate but I went from memory. I also though you said he was better in one of your posts but maybe it was someone else. Nevermind.

On Urkal, It was a boxing match for the most part. Urkal was never an infighter. Urkal, who was an outstanding amatuer, had little power and outboxed his opponents with an excellent jab and also had a good all-around skillset.

One of Tszyu's most underrated wins. 9-3, 8-4 type of fight scored closer on some of the scorecards because of Urkal's very good and vocal supporters who cheered wildly every time he came close with a punch. He was also tough as nails. Tszyu broke his jaw in their fight.

Compare it to the brutish approach Cotto applied against a faded 37-year old Urkal.

Buddy was an excellent fighter and will be inducted in the HOF in the future.

He also struggled against tough guys like Laporte and Lockridge, both clearly smaller than him.

You can level the same type of criticism at Chavez: knocked out fighters who were not durable. Never beat a great fighter; and add that he clearly lost to great fighters (Whitaker and DLH).

He was the first fighter to ever KO Julio Ceaser Chavez making him fall face first. And you know what they say when they face first don't you?

ricky gets 0 credit for beating a 35 year old kostya, who hadn't even been in many wars....

yet kostya gets praised for beating a 38 year old chavez who had been thru hell and back 4 times.....

Barry McGuigan "and you know the old saying... when they fall on their face, they don't get up"

oh and McGuigan also got in because of his role in "uniting" the people of northern ireland... which was BS, boxing here has always been non-sectarian.

Chavez's career officially ended when he lost a shutout decision to Willy Wise. Tsyzu's win was about a year after that.

I know, its not exact in EVERY fight there has ever been, but think of how Williams fell, was he ever getting up?

Anyone who praises Kostya Tszyu for beating Chavez is a complete moron. Chavez was a fraction of what he once was by the time Tszyu kicked his ass. Any version of Chavez pre 1998 kicks the **** out of Tszyu.
