I'm not saying I don't like Lewis...I'm just still irked by the way he encouraged Kostya to retire in the Hatton fight.

Yeah. Watching what he did in 91 at Worlds was unreal. Would have LOVED to see him in Barcelona at the Olympics with the CIS team. Gold medal would have really sealed the amateur career nicely and maybe gotten him on the radar a bit earlier in the West.

He loved Kostya. Tszyu's wife gave Johnny a warmer welcome home after that Hatton fight than anyone thanking him for doing so. I think it's more a case of of a Futch-Frazier type relationship that made him call to stop it.

I do admire the way Kostya left. He played the game, the game didn't play Kostya. He beat the game. Did I want his last time in the ring to be him losing to a shmuck like Ricky Hatton in the circumstances he did? No. And I understand why Lewis stopped it when he did, he felt he was doing the right thing...but coming from coaches who would have straight out pushed me off my stool into the ring for the last round, I don't like seeing Lewis end it like that.

why do you call ricky a schmuck....he's faced better comp than kostya, and made a hell of a name for himself.....

Because he is a shmuck compared to what Kostya was in his prime. He needed a fight in the middle of the night, in his hometown, with a biased referee, AND committing battery on Tszyu's nuts to beat a 35 year old man.

And I thought making a hell of a name for yourself was irrelevant. Because KT made quite the name for himself too, as we've gone over.
