Got a gift against Phillips? You obviously haven't watched the fight. And Phillips poured it on late and was a much bigger puncher than those 2. Mitchell was much better at 140 and yes he could deal with pressure as that fight showed. Both SJ and LJ were champs who caught Mitchell early in his career back to back when he wasn't as good.

If you want to joke around because this is not a serious discussion. OK, Calvn Grove's KO victory over Jeff Fenech was better than anything Meldrick Taylor ever did. When we talk of lack of punch resistance and a pea sized brain Taylor is a good example.:bbb The gloves have really come off.

Joking aside, Sharmba Mitchell's resume is not as good but comparable with McGirt's:

    Rafael Limon
    Rocky Lockridge
    Teron Millett
    Khalid Rahilou
    Reggie Green
    Felix Flores
    Ben Tackie
    Vince Phillips
    Lovemore N'dou
    Michael Stewart

Fought tougher competition as well: Mayweather, TszyuX2, , Paul Williams (ridiculous size disadvantage), Stevie Johnson.

Similar number of fights. Longevity as sweetscientist calls it.

To me the fight was more or less even, and Mitchell was lucky to get it. Barely holding off an old worn out Phillips is no big claim to fame in any case. Mitchell was massively overrated as a fighter for mine. Decent skills, but not much in the way of heart or intangibles.

 There's some good jokes in that paragraph. Don't see how they are relevant to the discussion, but thanks for the humour :good

I felt he did enough to get in.

But the IBHOF is what it is.

Tszyu never even fought the best fighters of his era. All this does is open the door for other fighters with a SHITTY resume....like (cough cough) Calzaghe.

It was considered the single deepest division when he was ruling it.

Seriously, this wasn't so long ago. How can you forget something like that?
