Incredible that people have the audacity to credit Tszyu for his win over Chavez.......
.....Chavez just months before facing Tszyu, had lost to Willy Wise for Gods sake.:patsch

In any regards, Tsyzu was a fine fighter.....one that would merit consideration for the HOF, but if I had a vote, his loss to Phillips would prevent me from punching his name to the Hall.
The fact that Tszyu avoided Phillips after his defeat hurts him.......and I also feel he would have lost the first Mitchell fight had Mitchell not hurt his knee. Mitchell was thoroughly outboxing Tszyu imo.

Mitchell's mobility is what made him an exellent fighter, and he was not the same after that knee injury as Tszyu thoroughly beat a non-mobil Mitchell nearly 4 years after their first encounter.

Aside from that, Tszyu feasted on some good but not great opposition.

I'll note however that it does'nt upset me that a fighter like Tszyu got in.....as others have said, lesser fighters have gotten in before him....and Tszyu aside from the Phillips fight dominated the 140 lbs division for a decade.

.........and uhhhmmmm, btw Scientist.....on your Tsyzu and McGirt resume comparison.......I think they are both in the same league, but imo Tszyu is more complete and the overall better fighter.
In a head to head matchup, Tszyu KO 10 McGirt.;)

Besides his great amateur career, he won a world champsionship in his 14th pro fight, was the first to unify at 140 and dominated jr welter for the best part of a decade. I don't understand how anyone besides revisionists can question his induction. He was one of the best and most respected champions of his generation.

Did someone just post a video of Tszyu TKOing Chavez? The Same Chavez who was around 38 Years old at the time and something like 103-4 (I think). And this video is supposed to confirm Tszyu's greatness and legitimize his induction into the HOF....REALLY?

Now If I created a thread saying that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a LOCK for the HOF based of the dismantleing of Shane Mosley. I GUARANTEE YOU...That this same poster will "**** ME" Verbally saying that Mosley was too old and shot to credit that as a legitimate and/or creditable win. But Tszyu's win over Chavez....EXTREMELY CREDITABLE in the eyes of this particular poster.

You're right...But even still, I get completely AMAZED at how deep his level of STUPIDITY, HYPOCRISY AND COMPLETE LACK OF SHAME GOES....IT ACHIEVES A LEVEL OF DEPTH THAT THE CHILEAN MINERS NEVER SEEN.

I know you damn Chavezittes reported those vids because it exposed that coke head fraud hero of yours. Just like when the Germans shut down all T.Vs during the Louis/Schmelling rematch.

Actually, it appears that it's you who's getting a little desperate, considering you trundled out this old chestnut several posts earlier:

If you're the expert that you seem to think you are, you'd have more of an idea regarding the circumstances surrounding that fight.

I'd never noticed you before, but you've displayed plenty of ignorance and uneducated arrogance in this thread.

Questioning Tszyu's boxing skill merely highlights the fact that you don't know what you're talking about and are just parroting what you've heard and read what other people say and post.

    Stroll on :thumbsup

It's sad that people can be so silly.

Mitchell would have never beaten Tszyu, healthy knee or not. To me Mitchell quit in that first fight after he saw that Tszyu was starting to close the range on him. I don't doubt that he had hurt his knee, but it wasn't hurting so badly when he was winning rounds was it? Guy never had the heart. Tszyu would have definitely taken it from him in the final stages of their fight, even if his knee was good, because boxers slow up in the final rounds and that's when Tszyu would have had the chance to take him out. Tszyu wasn't great on stamina or anything, but Mitchell wasn't pushing the fight with a high work rate to take Kostya off his game. Kostya would have eventually gotten on top.

To me, Sharmba Mitchell was no better fighter than Zab Judah or Diosbelys Hurtado. Just another good skilled, mentally weak and soft chinned 6 round fighter.

Tszyu deserves to be in the Hall. First ballot? Nah...

How is he more complete? He had his weaknesses (lack of great stamina, a little mechanical, not the best in-fighting ability, a bit defensively lax), as did Buddy (lack of great stamina, a little predictable in his combinations and of course, shoulder troubles and one-handedness towards the end of his career).

Tszyu might take Buddy out, Buddy did get hurt in several of his fights from big hitters (Leon, Baltazar) and high volume guys troubled him (Taylor, Pea, Warren) but the latter wouldn't be an issue with Tszyu - he always fought at a measured pace.

On the flip side though, Buddy did outbox Simon Brown, who is not too dissimilar in stlye to Tszyu (there are differences of course) and usually, when he did get Hurt, Buddy always had the heart to fight back (Leon, Baltazar). I think Buddy has a good chance of outboxing Tszyu and winning a decision, in fact I'd favour it.It's no sure thing in my mind though....

And just to throw it out to Casamayor, when Buddy did get hurt, he didn't just capitulate or quit, like Sharmba :good

Maybe you can edify me with your great boxing knowledge then. I usually hang around in the classic forum and I had not noticed you either. Maybe I'm truly missing out on one of the sports' most brilliant minds by not encountering you earlier. Maybe you have a lot to teach me. How about you give it a try?

The 'circumstances surrounding the fight' were that Tszyu didn't like to fight at a high pace and lacked an educated inside game when people tried to rough him up - not the bull**** about his law suit with Bill Mordey and whatever other excuse you're about to trumpet (like Tszyu being way ahead in the fight which he was not).

    Now stroll off :good

My opinion is that the early version of Mitchell was better than what you credit him .......

......maybe Tszyu would have caught up to Mitchell in the later rounds when the pace is slower, but from how I remember it, it would'nt bet on it.
Mitchell before hurting his knee was really turning on a dime and lateralling to Tszyu's sides tremendously well.....it was almost like watching a basketball player cross a player on the dribble and leaving the defender with buckled knees as he passes right by him......

When Mitchell hurt his knee, thats when Tszyu slowly began to impose himself on Mitchell.

Without the movement, there is no way that a fighter like Mitchell who relied on movement was going to be able to hold off a strong, forcefull fighter like Tszyu.

Imagine Dirrel and Froch with knee injuries vs Arthur Abraham........Abraham would have eventually imposed himself on them.

I didn't claim to have 'great boxing knowledge' or to be 'one of the sports' (sic) most brilliant minds', nor is it my job to edify you or teach you anything, I just pointed out how obnoxious you've been in this thread.

You're doing a pretty good job at kidding on you know everything anyway - ooh, you usually hang around the classic forum, wow you really must know your stuff!!!

Just a pity you can't temper your feigned depth of knowledge with a bit of humility - you wouldn't have stuck out like a sore thumb then.

Tszyu chose to go toe-to-toe with a slugger and came off second best. According to you that sums up his boxing skills. I would say it indicated he chose the wrong game plan and lacked a certain amount of discipline for that fight. Yep, you really know your stuff classic forum boy :thumbsup
