You had a case until you pointed out Mosley/Clottey comparisons. Not to mention Pac/Marquez was pre De La Hoya and that's when both Floyd AND Pac's numbers took off.after they fought Oscar.
Do you honestly think Floyd would have done 700k on his own against Clottey?Defensive safety first fighter against "I'm just happy to be here, check out my high guard!" clottey?

I read that Pacquiao-Hatton did 300 or 350k in the UK.

Really if anything it could be 51/52 for Mayweather, but Pac camp prob wouldn't agree to it. They both need each other to make the biggest PPV of all time equally... so 50/50!

Mayweather has massive PPV numbers throughout his career for sure. But if you look RECENTLY pacquiaos numbers have been very impressive. mosely vs mayweather got massive promotion. 2 american fighters that was supposed to do 3 MILLION BUYS! 1.2 million he did is very impressive but pac vs cotto was just as impressive, 2 non american fighters. also 700,000 buys vs CLOTTEY. if mayweather fought clottey i dont think they would beat 700,000. So in terms of the last 2 years ppv wise they have both been equal so a 50/50 split it fair

Long ago, Pac wasn't the draw he is now. Floyd's popularity has remained relatively unchanged for a few years, if you think Manny's fanbase has not increased dramatically since Hatton + Cotto victories you are kidding yourself. I think right now they are about even.

Anyways, I couldn't give a fiddler's fart about PPV's as long as the fight gets made. That's all that matters to me.

Despite what some of you want to believe, being American doesn't mean as much as you think over here. Who outside of the promoters were saying it would sell 3 million PPVs? Mayweather-Mosley did just as much as Pacquiao-Cotto and Floyd's fight with Marquez did just under that. Pay attention to the fact that Mosley and Marquez have no U.S. fanbase, but Cotto does( Puerto Rico included). Mayweather basically sold his last two PPVs by himself.

Floyd's PPV drawing power has suffered because people were pissed off he was too cautious in so many of his fights(how the **** did he not knock JMM out?) and a lingering disappointment with his nonchalant attitude towards "legacy" fights.

However after his more aggressive showing against Mosley, if he agrees to fight Pac, people should flock to this PPV.
