...And it seems Katsidis' team might even be entertaining the idea!

English boxer Graham Earl (26–4– 0) has today contacted the manager of Michael Katsidis, Brendon Smith, in order to challenge the Aussie to a rematch in the coming months. Earl lost a brutal stoppage bout to Katsidis in 2007 for the WBO World lightweight title in London, in a fight that was filled with knockdowns, big hits and a little controversy and subsequently awarded the fight/round of the decade.

“The fight with Mick shouldn’t have been stopped, I want an opportunity for revenge, He promised me a rematch, I want a rematch” Earl said via email to Smith earlier today “last we spoke Michael had obligations, he doesn’t now, give our countries what they want Earl V Katsidis 2!”

This isn’t the first time that Graham Earl has issued a rematch challenge to Katsidis. During a press training day in London, Earl approached Smith and Katsidis to try and issue a challenge following the Mitchell fight “I didn’t want to entertain the conversation with Graham then, the fight with Kevin Mitchell was our focus not a rematch with Earl… it is obvious that Graham would like his revenge, he approached us in London, tried to enter camp in Thailand and we have even caught wind that he has contacted Win TV in Australia today as well to ensure that Michael has heard the challenge loud and clear” smith today said.

Katsidis has confirmed that his next fight will be on Australian soil, so if Earl is serious about the challenge he will need to come downunder, something Smith believes he will “He stated in his email to me that he is willing to fight Michael anywhere, not to many boxers in the world are willing to do that”

Team Katsidis are expected to issue a response in the coming days.

Perhaps not good, but Earl is 32, not five hundred and 56. Fighters lose fights, they get beat up, something that seems to be lost on folk nowadays. It's a brutal game.

In my opinion the five round loss to Kasidis was probably his finest hour.

I can't see this happening myself anyway, still, it gets both fighters in the news.

after the fights katsidis has had against marquez and then guerrero, he deserves an easy fight for once, graham earl may be just a bit too easy though.

Earls been quoted in the local paper today saying this is 99% done. Should be sorted out by the beginning of next week. End of August or early September in Toowoomba Katz home town.
I suppose Katsidis' team are looking at it as confidence builder after the Guerrero beatdown. Earl is beyond shot though.

I actually watched the 1st fight this morning and **** me I forgot about the actual beating he took.

Katsidis could end up seriously damaging him more this time around as well.

His next 2 fights were ko1 losses as well. He kind of freezes when he gets hit and doesn't know what to do. And that was nearly 4 years ago. Hes obsessed with the Katz fight. Obsessed. He could get hurt badly.
I've recently rewatched the first one as well. Absolute classic. The way Katz staggers across the ring when Graham hits him is quality, but as always, he was just so strong.

Maybe he's trying to get around assisted suicide laws? Seriously this can't be allowed, he got an absolute beating in the first one, he's looked super-shot since it's only going to be worse this time.

HE WANTS TO BOX, ****ING LET HIM.

You would say it was his decision if he went out on a booze rampage, or took some drugs, or climbed a mountain with no ropes, or went Scuba diving with a 25ft bearshark... but if a guy past his prime wants to box "THIS IS SICK" , "DISGUSTING", blah blah ****ing blah. Let the guy do what he wants to do.
