Yes, just going to leave it at that. I didn’t report him but he was so far over the line it was a matter of time.

It's poor marketing, pure and simple.

Floyd was not a PPV fighter for the first decade of his career but when he DECLINED as a fighter (in terms of offence, hand problems etc) he did a 180 and marketed himself as the bad guy and HBO were instrumental in that journey.

They could have done that with other fighters too, GGG, Kovalev, Spence, Garcia etc and had fans eager to watch them.

One of Hollywood's biggest problems is overpaying.
All of the GOT leads get millions per episodes, which has been really bad for the show. It's still quality, but they have had to cut the show short and quickly skip to the end.

I don't know what HBO hopes for Kovalev, GGG, Canelo are there big names and Kovalev and GGG might be getting on.. The Kovalev alvarez rematch is expected to do well should it take place. but where do they go from there, offer alvarez an hbo deal?? if Kovalev wins he'd be a stepping stone or fight a B+ to even less ratings than before. If GGG loses he might be a harder sell too, it's a tough spot for HBO

They basically slashed the hell out of their boxing budget. What do they do now? 10 shows a year?

Ross Greenburg and to some degree the heavyweight division's lack of excitement.

Showtime's head of sports comes from a boxing background. He was a key in Golden Boy.

HBO's head of sports comes from their original programming and has seen the budget drop. Honestly, I'm probably going to drop HBO after my promotional pricing ends. They rarely have fights, they've jumped way off the deep end politically and I don't watch GOT.

I am on the fence about dropping HBO. They do have good movies from time to time.
As for their boxing programming oh man its just terrible now.
Who knows what happened but its obvious that the competition ate them alive. Especially when bob arum took loma and crawford to ESPN. All they have now is a soon to be retired GGG, Kov, and Canelo the PPV king

It's not dead. Just not as popular as we would love it to be.

I miss Merchant calling the fights. I remember when I was a kid my father showed me a VHS tape...Mike Tyson and History's Greatest Knockouts. Must have been around 1989 or so...before the Douglas fight I think. That tape is what really got me into boxing. Anyways Larry Merchant and Mike Tyson are co-hosts and there is some great footage in there. I wish I had a damn VCR that worked because I still have the tape laying around somewhere lol.

    Well damn....YouTube is great lol
