Has anybody heard anything new about Pirog recently? I've rarely seen a fighter kill his own momentum like that, what a waste of talent. :-(
He's ducking good competition. Maybe he will come out of the caves of Russia and fight GGG after the summer.
Sitting around watching highlights of his ATG victory over Jacobs, talking about how Golovkin just went after his leftovers, and justifying his title run by stressing how oft-ducked Maciel can't get anyone man enough to step in the ring with him. But seriously, the only times I hear news or quotes from him over the past couple years is to announce an injury or threaten retirement.
People hate on other MW's like Geale, Quillin, and Chavez for being "duckers" or "not fighting the best" or "not deserving of being titlists." I'm curious as to how dumb they would look trying to defend Pirog from more serious and extreme claims of this.
Well the thing with Pirog is that he hasn't turned down the fights the above 3 have to take on opponents of lesser quality. I say this as someone who thinks the ducker label nevertheless does not apply to those 3.
