It seems like he is facing lebedev now at cruiser, what is roy thinking how many times does he have be knocked out and humiliated by guys he would have destroyed in his prime. Lebedev is a beast he hits very hard. Also jones is facing off with haye, really someone hook him up with some lithium cause it seems he is suicidalatsch He should stick to commentating on hbo, he is good at that, if he keeps this up he will end up slurring his words with brain damage or worse.
Roy should target weak champions and that's it. That's explains the Haye meeting. Lebedev? Must be trying to get into a position for a title shot. Cruiserweight title will make him a 5 division champ and be a fitting end to his career. With Roy, we shouldn't worry as much as Holyfield. Apart from Calzaghe, who's an absolute legend, Roy hasn't really been beat up too much. One shot KO losses don't do as much damage as sustained beatings, and Roy is still good enough to avoid such beatings.
funny thing is that in his prime he was a bit nervous about taking risky fights....he wouldnt fight buster douglas when douglas was a shell of a man..and he wouldnt fight the best at light heavy without a **** load of money (I am not knocking that...it is a business..but still..he did judge risk) now though he seems to fighting like a man on a mission to get destroyed..i know he needs the money and all..but still.....he should be able to live a pretty comfortable life just on the HBO commentary money....
I dont see why it is hard for people to understand why a guy who has been boxing his entire life wants to fight. Jones would probably tell you himself he doesnt need the money. Its about one thing: Challenging himself. He wants to win a Cruiserweight title. Should he be fighting? Thats not a question any of us can answer accurately without calling in to question the whole sport of boxing. Around half of all fights end in a knockout. It is a violent sport, and yes people can and do get hurt. If he passes all required tests, he should be allowed to fight if he chooses. He doesnt owe anyone an explaination.
Bull****...when you have boxed for as long as Roy has, you certainly show mental effects...as Roy already does...one shot KO's dont do much damage? When ur lights get put out for a few seconds that does much more damage than you think...i dont think u know what ur talking about
Absolute legand . . . hahaha! I told everyone who would listen that he should quite right after Ruiz . . . somebody should stop him and the Holiman!
They're basically concussions. It is better to recover from them than sustained beatings on your head for 30+ minutes. Of course too many concussions will have it's effects. Roy got two in row some time ago and then there was a long time before Danny Green rocked him. If he gets sparked again by someone like lebedev then he should retire. But right now, Roy still has his wits about him, it's his athleticism that has diminished a lot.
As for the remarks about how Jones should be comfortable living off of what he's made or what he earns from HBO now as a commentator... "It's not what you make, it's what you keep." The reality is that most of these guys don't invest their money properly and as a result they don't keep very much.
he must have gotten a burst of adrenaline from the donaire fight and thinking he could get back in the ring
as much as i dont like seeing him fight at this stage of his career, he is fortunate to be able to still do the thing he loves most
