Any combat sport ought to have a minimum age requirement at the pro or semipro level, no? Maybe, oh idk...the age of majority? - which, sure, may vary legally from one sovereignty to another, but ignoring arbitrary lines on a map for a second and putting aside the unnecessary awkward stumbling block of "b-b-b-b-but cultural relativism!! "...but here in the USA, where medical and scientific research, needless to say, ANNIHILATES whatever passes for an equivalent in Thailand, our experts have concluded that until you are eighteen your brain is still developing, and many physicians have come around to believing that even football of any full-contact variety, is tackle instead of tag, is probably best left to adults ...meaning even high school programs are ill-advised, which of course is an opinion that undermines the very profitable leviathan industry of college gridiron (predicated on jacked up monsters coming into freshman year with a few years of hard competitive experience already under their belts) so it will of course never gain traction so long as the fat cats have the wealth to drown out that research with spin campaigns in the court of public opinion & lobbyists to ensure the politicians are 'playing ball' and not impeding them)...so yeah, while 18 may seem arbitrarily set and with some room to wriggle, movable within reason as far as things like voting, jury duty, sex or marriage are concerned - perhaps in this one realm, a hard limit of eighteen actually makes a TON of sense.

Sorry but concern for the well-being of kids (however a society defines them, but the baseline standard ought to be older than 14, based on SCIENCE...whatever primitive ass cultures in bygone eras or still in some remote shitholes today may consider old enough to be a perfectly legit "adult" emperor or pit fighting champion or concubibe aka indentured prostituteor whatever...) trumping every other petty concern is a universal standard. That isn't something I just pulled outta my ass, isn't some weird personal quirk of mine, isn't "just, like, my opinion, man". The world over, especially anywhere even remotely civilized, the safety and welfare of children is valued over anyone else's, that is just a flatly accepted part of the social contract, period, and if you disagree with that society has no place for you. The fact that even a total nihilistic misanthrope like @CST80 who, though I don't actually know for sure his feelings on the matter, but I'm hazarding an educated guess he isn't really interested to breed, even he is like "yeah, whatever consenting adults do to each other, up to and including exploiting one another's rapid descent into dementia in the final cost balance of entertaining the bloodthirsty masses of paying customers, so be it...but leave the young ones the fuck alone" speaks volumes.
