Everybody keep talking about Manny's victory being "lessened" by saying that Ricky's punch resistence has went down blah blah blah....

This may have played a role somewhat, but you people act like Ricky Hatton is the FIRST fighter in this world to go be knocked out and come back:lol: It just takes away from the accomplishment of the fighter. If that's the case the following fighters should get NO credit for their victories:

    DLH-Mayorga (Tito almost killed him)
    DLH-Vargas (see above)
Mayweather-Gatti (punch resistence from SEVERAL fights)
    Hatton-Castillo (punch resistence Chico fight)

and the list goes on and on......

I think in Hatton's case his punch resistance is definitley gone or at least much declined. See the Lazcano fight for evidence of it starting to decline rapidly.

For me it doesn't take anything away from Pacquiao's win though. Still too good for a prime Hatton.

Even if Floyd didn't KO Hatton, even if hatton's punch resistance is still 100%, Hatton would still not get up with that left hook by pac...IT WAS THAT DEVASTATING!!!

Guess people get ridiculed when they rule that a fighter suddenly became overnite shot(when it is not) once beaten.

That is why the phrase was coined to justify the reason of the defeat.

    Just my 2 cents.

Before Floyd Hatton was already KD and was hurt by featherfisted Collazo.

it may also have to do a little with desire/heart to take shots...im not endorsing that theory but check out some of the interviews w/ tyson. he says that during his fights w/ ruddock he was getting hit hard as **** but it didnt bother him to walk right through it b/c he still had that fire/chip on his shoulder but when he was in the twilight of his career when it was obvious his heart wasnt in it, he said everything that touched him made him want to just back off or take a knee...

so maybe its not something that just happens that is out of your control...maybe it all a matter of how bad you want to be in the ring and take shots as opposed to how bad do you want to be in the ring to get paid (in tyson's case its well documented that he needed the money)

GREAT Post and the Tyson analogy is excellent! Different stages of your career can mean different motives, but this guy Hatton only had 1 loss, not over hill by any means, etc.

Hattons punch resistance has obviously diminished. I believe its 2 things. The Floyd loss messed him up for good mentally and his lifestyle has finally caught up with him. Hoever that left hook pac threw would have sparked any jnr welter. it was the punch from hell and it didnt help that he didnt see it coming.

It was Hatton's mental strength that let him down, he tried to go for the KO in the 1st round.
