The ref was biased to Bute, and the decision was controversial, but I am not sure whether the ref robbed Andrade or not. Not sure either way, whether according to the rules, it was Andrade KO 12 or whether Bute beat the count. If the ref had called it a night for Bute after he seemed to beat the count, just before the final bell, some people would say:

Blame the ref, not Andrade: Bute beat the count, Andrade had no time to finish him off before the final bell, and to rob Bute, the ref called the fight off! Robbery!!!

Rematch with an American judge, in America, but not sure whether the ref, despised being biased, did something against the rules!:deal

Andrade was not to blame - he gave his all in the last round and almost had Bute KOed for good. Bute is not to blame - he came to fight in the last round and went toe to toe instead of running and he didn't take a knee to buy time or save himself from further punishment. The ref was not to blame because whatever decision he'd have taken, it would have been controversial. Unless someone proves to me that the ref gave a very long count to save Bute, or unless someone proves to me that he knew Bute was in no position to continue after he beat the count, but didn't stop the fight knowing Andrade would not have had time to finish Bute off with one last punch, the ref doesn't get blame from me either.

Fair's fair and the ref should not take the wrap because Bute couldn't make it out alive against Andrade, at the end. That wasn't the ref's fault. It was Bute's for not being tough enough. Nor was it the ref's fault Andrade left it to the last round and the last couple of seconds to try and get Bute out of there. Andrade was not clever enough.

Please prove to me and everyone else that by the rules of the IBF the ref robbed Andrade, and I will agree with you. I'm not saying he didn't, mind you. I just don't know whether he did or not. Also, prove to me that it wouldn't have been a robbery if the ref had called it off and called it Andrade TKO 12, a second before the final bell, after Bute was up and had his arms up ready to try and make it through to the end. I think neither case can be proven because it was on the limit. So, why should I blame the ref if he couldn't have gotten it right one way or the other? Prove to me that is not the case. Prove to me that it would have been great according to the rules if the ref had waved it off in the last second, calling it Andrade TKO 12. I just don't know whether the ref got it right, but from what I could see, it would have been controversial even if he had stopped Bute after he beat the count, with one second of the fight remaining.

But wasn't Bute in a position to continue for one or two more seconds, until the final bell? Regardless of whether Andrade would have had Bute out with his first punch, if that punch couldn't have been landed in the time left of the fight, Bute survived the fight and he needs to be given credit for that. Right?

This is the problem. Bute was on his feet, had his hands up, was away from the ropes. Was he in a position to continue or not? That is the question. I don't think it's obvious he wasn't ready. Even if we agree Andrade would have KOed him with the first punch, that doesn't mean he wasn't ready to continue...does it? Maybe he just was, on the limit. We don't know. Only the ref knows. He saw Bute up close. Looked him in the face. We don't know. The ref had to decide whether Bute was ready to continue until the end of the round, not indefinitely, right? I know you cannot be saved by the bell in any round, including the last, but if you are good to go at the very end of the round, you shouldn't be stopped just because you look like couldn't take much more of this, right? :good

    Rematch!

I actually gained respect for Bute tonight, mainly since I feel that Andrade is vastly underrated. That said...

Prove to me how your point doesn't suggest that the correct action would have been to miraculously suspend the passage of time and create a blessed limbo in which no decision was made. It doesn't work that way. The wishbone cracked, and Librado ended up jobbed.

Had the ref acted appropriately, Andrade would have had at least five seconds to run across the ring to finish the fight, and Bute would have had five seconds longer to survive. Had this happened, and had Librado either definitively scored the KO or Bute finished on his feet, we'd all be in bed, none of these threads would exist, and Bute might not be cornered into a rematch.

I do blame the ref, not Bute. Are you sure you agree with yourself?

You are saying the count was too long. Maybe. I don't know. Need to rewatch it. If it was too long, then yeah...robbery. I've made this point before. How am I'm contradicting myself?:think

Bute didn't really do anything wrong. I wasn't too crazy about the holding but the referee could have done something about that and forced Bute to fight his way out of close exchanges. I like Bute as he's proven to be a very good fighter.

I wanna know what kind of advice Bute's corner gave him heading into the 12th cuz it seems as though they told him to stand in there and fight. All this "be a hero" nonsense in the final round when you're up on the scorecards is how trainers undermine their fighters' efforts. Andrade was gunning for the KO. He was coming hard and his only chance was to close the distance. If I'm in Bute's corner I'm telling him to be on his bicycle. No ifs, ands or Butes. :canada :guitar :bbb

Why are people saying that people are bashing Bute? No they are not. They are bashing the dumb ****ing ref. Bute won the boxing match but he didn't win the fight.

Not just that but the ref was body blocking and placing himself between the fighters when it looked like Bute needed a rest or was in trouble at several different points throughout the fight. There would be no need for a body language expert, we could all see it.

Like letting Andrade elbow Bute, like letting him throw Bute in the corner, like letting him headbutt Bute twice including in the final flurry

I noticed that too but the ref was just abysmal throughout on both sides.

He only really became overtly Pro-Lucian in the last 2-3 rounds or so.

First his brother gets robbed against Eyebrows on Saturday...now this. Rough week for the Andrades.

The ref was pro Bute all night long. He didn't say the words "no holding" until there were 43 seconds left in the 11th round. When Andrade threw Bute off him the ref "warned" him until Bute came to his senses. And the 15 second no count thing he pulled at the end. Well? I liked the fight and if he could've beat the count the ref should've let him. That would've made his bandwagon heavier. If he couldn't then Andrade would've had his moment. I'm not mad at Bute but I am mad that this ***ot didn't allow one of these fighters ,and each and every one of us, the opportunity to witness a historic moment.
