I would say Captain Hooker. He won the battle of Hooker City because he looks like a pimp to me in that outfit.:huh
Monday morning quarterback? Hardly, I thought this at the time. It was frustrating. We had to see him arguing with Hopkins and it was entertaining on HBO, but the fact was at the time he did not fight him. It was always show and wanting money and saying it was not happening for him. If a fighter wants the fights he can get them. I am just saying, for a great who is fighting on, he sure did not show what other greats showed in their prime. About Roy? He fought lesser guys and could have had some big fights and proven how dominant he was against guys like Benn and Eubank rather than Lucas and Thorton. He never looked for the superfight which all greats want to do for legacy. He is very much like Floyd. A guy who had great skills but didn't fully have confidence to fight someone who could maybe give him trouble. He could have fought Hopkins in a rematch when both were fighting well and Hopkins was dominant at middleweight. He never gave Toney a rematch. He fought Virgil Hill when Virgil was slowing down, but it was a good win and probably his best win as was Toney. Ruiz was never a great fighter and I knew Jones would beat him. He handpicked his fights. Fighters he never fought? Michaelzewski,Maske,Benn,Eubank,Nunn and Lewis at heavy since he wants to be the real champ. I thought Nunn would have been a tough fight for him like Witherspoon would have been for Tyson. Jones fought the Griffins and the Fraziers and guys like that . Good guys, but not who he could have. Even his pick at heavyweight was Ruiz who could not punch. I knew that Ruiz didn't have the power to blow Jones out of there, that Jones would win the same type of fight he did at 175. After Tarver is when Jones started to take chances since then he was thought of as washed up, so a loss would not hurt what he thought was a great legacy. And then he starts losing. That is why I said I understand why guys like Holmes or Hearns or Duran kept on fighting because they fought everyone all the time and clamored for superfights and showed they had fighting heart. But Jones acted like he didn't really want it, and now he fights on after he spend his prime handpicking. I think I explained it fully. This Captain Hook stuff is a little funny, but why didn't he have this kind of get up when he was in his prime when he could have fought the best and made some nice fights and press conferences. He didn't. Don't get me wrong. He is a great fighter, but I think more on how great I think he was and not as much who he fought and beat. But his skills like Floyd's were top notch and had he committed to fighting the best he would have probably beaten most of them. He is a guy like Floyd who has convinced himself he fought the best always and was a warrior. They do not realize that they handpicked and that people want to see a resume where a guy fought everyone at anytime regardless of losses.
looks like a costume chappelle would use to impersonate prince in one of those skits about charlie murphy partying with prince and the revolution circa 1982
:-(.... i like roy and all, but umm ... wheres the EYE PATCH!! if your gonna do it do it right ... sigh
I do love Roy Jones. It's gonna be hard for him to pull away though, boxing is all he has ever knew in his life, more vicious knockouts will come. Sad days are ahead.
That outfit is genius, id wear it if hed let me borrow it. Jones is just great and with greatness comes the right to wear what ever you want.
Come on bro. He side stepped a few guys along the way. He fought a full time cop! Roy definitely side stepped a few guys. He beat a lot of good fighters but he fought some serious trash.
