Around the 6th round when DeMarco was able to trade with him on the inside, you could see that the pressure was getting to LInares.
he was doing fine using his speed from the outside. then he got stupid and started trading bombs with demarco like the 6 or 7 round. its was over from then.
I give the credit to DeMarco. The guy is a more skilled fighter than he's being given credit for. He put body shots in the bank and continued to walk Linares down. And talk about focus and determination he's the definition of it. Congratulations to him, he made the night worth it!
Demarco wasn't winning, but he was landing big shots. This is like JCC and Meldrick Taylor, when Taylor landed more but JCC busted Taylor up. One thing that has gone overlooked is that DeMarco is not really a big puncher, so one has to wonder about Linares' chances at 135-140 against a guy who can really hit. I don't think he will do well unless he can shore up his defense.
:deal Agreed. Like many Roach fighters, physically they advance to a higher level, but mentally I'm not so sure if they are taught to really adapt to a certain type of situation. Their is no plan B. Linares has great talent, but should of avoided standing in front of DeMarco and going toe to toe with him which Linares did when he really didn't have to and this is what happens. DeMarco hung in there and it's good to see a determined fighter like DeMarco do the Rocky underdog thing and win, even though I did get the impression Linares soaked in his own blood was getting alot of respect and doing his own Rockyesque thing. I'm happy for DeMarco even though I don't expect him to be champ for long, but I may be wrong and with a good trainer DeMarco can become the unexpected threat no one thought he could be. He has size, reach, and power. Why not? If someone teaches him to use his size appropriately he can turn into a real threat. As for Linares he needs to be less flashy and learn from his losses to be a better fighter. Needs to learn to take breaks between rounds so he won't gas out.
