Exactly my point. It's a popularity thing, not a poll based on any merit or accomplishment. The poll means jack ****, as do any internet based polls.

 

I guess that's a decent point.

 

This shouldn't surprise anybody because many Boxing fans are complete idiots. There are even goons here that proclaim cherrypicking, Glass Jawed ducker Roid Jones to be the GOAT. :roflatsch

 

Top 25 is respectable (Pac hater Teddy Atlas has him here). Top 20 may also be debatable (Bert Sugar has him here). Top 15 you better have a very good argument.

 

top 40 or 50, and floyd in top 30.

 

To say that any fighter is the greatest in boxing history ( Purely from a fighting standpoint ) is always debatable and a no win arguement, simply because of progress. Which includes tangibles such as training techiques, equipment, knowledge of the sport, etc. Check this out, Willie Pep had 242 fights and only lost 12, he won his first 63 fights. What fighter today has done that and I dont even hear Pep mentioned as an ATG on this forum. He is just one of many.
